Even though the car has not been driven since early November, I vacuumed it... Yes, I climbed into the car and vacuumed it even though it was pretty clean when I put it away...
Then I put Rain-X on the front and back windows... Then I literally just stared at it for a while. So happy we just about beat an 80 year old record for the coldest stretch of February weather here. Let us hope this can be taken as a sign of an early spring... Patiently waiting for the weather to turn, the snow to melt and the sweepers to get rid of all of the GD ROCKS they put on the roads every winter. On a positive note, it is blue skies and calm, and -19C is actually warmer than it has been. Ok, done whining. Cheers,

Changed spark plugs. Wasn't as bad as made out to be. In fact, with the cat 5 cable method, the rear coils are the easiest to remove since you can use the strut braces for leverage. Didn't notice any difference in running on 37k mile plugs, although they looked pretty dirty.
Also removed the full rear seat. Wow the rear seat has some amazing sound insulation! Last edited by Bartledoo; 02-19-2019 at 01:49 PM.. |

Pulled the valve covers after deciding it was time to do the gaskets, last time I drove the car I got an oily smell after turning on the blower to clear the windshield. Covers had started to bubble and chip a bit but didn't look that bad compared to some of what I've seen. I found what looked like oil on the exhaust manifold and below the gasket it looked oily, musta been what I was smelling.. any suggestions on coating the covers? After a little research I plan on having them salt blasted treated and cerakote'd. Coating the top sides only, maybe red. I'm gonna have to buy all new hardware and seals for the components on the cover, all the cover bolt seals and o-rings for cam sensors and breather were very stale and came off with the old chipping finish attached. So much for being a cheap dyi gasket change, the hardware and gaskets have ran about $400 already, plus the cover refinish.

Did not have a good day yesterday.
First I got this in my tire, then when I got home installed the new hood struts, I forgot to move my phone out of the way and I crushed the hood on top of it shattering my phone screen. I guess it's a good time to upgrade anyways, I've had this 7Plus for almost 2 years with no issues 😭
