Saw this too late. We ended up with an Amarone from Italy and a Faustinol from Spain. These were gifts for someone.

It's Zin Night tonight, featuring a pair of blends by one of my favorite producers: Ridge Vineyards.

Deciding on wine to take to 23rd anniversary dinner tonight. Contenders are Dominus, The Bard, Lokoya Mt. Veeder or Nine Suns. All 2014. Leaning towards Dominus because we haven’t tried it yet but have tried all the others. Decisions, decisions.

Italian night here, featuring a Brunello di Montalcino with some age on it.

So in the airport on the way home last week, Mrs bought the latest copy of Wine Spectator. It was the wine of the year issue. #1 was a 2019 Double Diamond. Googled and found Double Diamond at Total Wine. Picked up 3 bottles tonight, but of 2016 vintage. What the heck, right? Opened an hour ago and decanted for an hour before first sips. It is very smooth. Dry with a hint of bitterness left on the palette. Still want to try the 2019 to compare, and will keep looking.

Also, found that they had the Red Schooner Transit #2 as I mentioned from our trip and pics of our visit to Caymus. That will be for another night, but soon. Probably tomorrow…

I love a good dry or off dry Riesling or Gewurztraminer. A lot of people think they are only sweet. Same with Moscatto, those dry are really good

We went with the 2014 Dominus and it was outstanding. I have a 2013 stashed away to hang onto long term.

We like those, too. The single vineyard Zind-Humbrechts are long-time favorites here for both their Gewurzs and their Rieslings.

Had the Transit 2. Let it decant for a couple hours before sips. Was I think $40 or $44. Worth the price and tasty.

Their wines are too acidic for my taste. I agree they are probably better with food, it would help cut through that.
