Yes, I'm going to sell the Apex rims. One set is already spoken for. And I'm not quite ready to sell the others yet because I haven't swapped all the tires around just yet.

Yup, I bought those from Turner.

I just liked the design of the Bimmerworld stud because that wide flange doesn't rely on jamming into the threads. Plus I wanted the 12.9 grade steel that's used on the Premium Race studs, versus most other studs on the market that are 10.9 grade.



I totally understand that studs are a personal preference thing. Once you find one that works, you stick with it. That's what both of us are doing. Every stud out there has broken at one point or another. And there's a million reasons a stud can break. So, what do you even blame when it happens?

I had strongly considered widening the hub holes with that Rogue Engineering kit so that I could use 14mm studs. But I think I've made enough changes for now. Let's see how these new wheels and studs hold up.

I know I was quick to pipe up about the wheels, but it was out of habit... bad timing for me, I'm getting hitched next month to mrs. beef and have to watch the spending for now.

thanks! i suggested we had the ceremony under the oak trees on the hillside of laguna seca with the corkscrew in the background (romantic, right?) but she wouldn't go for it.

Not the Cadillac CTS-V forum!!!! Lmao. I spend waayyyy too much time talking about my wheels lol, I thought I might spare you guys of my constant gushing over them. You should see how many pics are on my phone of my car with the new wheels lmao. Honestly, the only difference I noted seemed to relate to the way my 18x10sq setup felt vs my 19 staggered. But, I made a few other changes since going to the track last so I’m not sure what exactly contributed what. Still learning. All I know is the overall handling was massively improved with the wheel, tire, and camber changes I made. Seemed tighter in the turns, not sure if I’m describing that properly though. I don’t know if the spacers contributed anything either way, but they didn’t hurt. I’m really happy with the direction I’m going

If it's an HPDE, all you'd have to do is stand on the apex or exit of turn 9 and you'd be in the safest spot on the track...

Hehe I was using my titan 7 wheels (staggered) to track on for a while but sold that set to get square apex EC-7 for dedicated track use & tires. Kind of the reverse wheel switcho! Glad to hear you like the wheels, I had T-S5 and would consider the 10-spoke if I bought again

Dammit I didn't realize their 10.5's were that light. dammit dammit dammit and I was all stoked about being on 17's and cracking the code. Those with the 285/35-18 PS4S square would be the shizzle for shizzle street setup, or you could do a 295/30-18 street/track tire...orrrrr

For me, three sets has been the right number. I can fit all three sets in the trailer---one set on the car and two sets racked up. It allows me to have good tires, medium tires and scrub tires on hand pretty much all the time. I've had a 4th set for the last few months, and it offers some interesting possibilities, but then one set must live in the pickup truck which sorta stinks. I'm going back to three sets.

I am working around for the realization that I need a third set. not so much for different tires, but for the fact that I get into Fri-Sat-Sun events and the tire shop opens only Sat. So if I end up replacing tires only to make sure I can finish the third day. over time it is gets costly if you add up. A third set will ensure that what ever day I finish on the cords, I can start the next day on the second set. I have a set that is strictly for getting coffee or lunch.

Wheel and tire goals right there. I'm still driving to and from the track. Taking the leap into a tow rig with trailer is not something I'm looking to do at this point. However, I really need to look into whether I can make a rental truck/trailer work. It's a big limitation to only be able to carry one spare wheel. I could technically put a couple of wheels on the roof, one on the passenger seat and one in the trunk but what a PIA....

Ironically, if you don't have a roll bar, the E90 can put 4 wheels in the back seat. Makes it more track friendly than the E92 from a tire logistics standpoint......how funny is that? I used to roll into the paddock with 4 tires, two floor jacks so I could switch camber from minimum street settings to max at the track, and a bunch of tools. It was quite packed in that car. On further-away multi-day trips to NorCal, I would jam 6 wheels into that car along with all the jacks, tools and luggage......hehe Unpacking the car was an ordeal....

I love your new wheel set up! I got a set of the T-S5's from EAS as well for my track set up and love them! It's amazing that you can pick up a proper set of forged wheels (10,000 ton press ) these days for what other companies are selling cast wheels for...
