I really want to do this as well... but I don't think I can pull off the DIY from what I have seen on here.. looks like a bitch of a process for someone with my lack of skills.

It’s easy, after you do it once it takes 10min to swap. Finding the sweet spot to pop the bag out is the only “difficult” part

I've done it before. See what happened was, the rubber came off the trim to the point where it felt weird, so my bright idea was to just plastidip it black, half way through sanding off whatever was remaining I got pretty lazy so it came out like ass, but no one looks inside my car so it didn't bother me, but it became an eyesore over time and I might as well just replace it anyways

Drove home in this horrific rain system in NC, took about an hour and 20 minutes. Noticed one thing on the highway in heavy traffic, low vis/dark.. In a DCT. The gearing makes stop and go traffic interesting, because I really don't have to use the breaks much, as the deceleration is quite pronounced when off the throttle at slower speeds. While this is nice mostly for less jerky driving .. the cars behind me often didn't adjust to not having my break lights when I was slowing down.. a lot of close calls as they are used to that... Was interesting. unless I'm missing something on the transmission..

Meh I bought a $5 siphon and just watched it drain. I’d have had to buy a turkey baster anyway so just bought the siphon

Ordered a Coby wheel (OEM grey, silver stitching, blue 12 o'clock), new steering wheel trim, and less excitingly, new turner driveshaft with serviceable u-joints.

Over the weekend I did the blue IND start + M buttons, replaced the wearing trim around the radio, all new HVAC buttons.

Last week did DCT flush + new pan gasket, 4-wheel alignment, tires balanced, brake fluid flush.

Short How to:

- Disconnect battery and wait a few minutes
- Remove Airbag

Here the YouTube "how to" will tell you to remove the whole steering wheel, which I did not do. Ist not needed!

- remove connecting screws from paddles
- loose the steering wheel trim (the loose paddles can be put a bit better out of the screw driver's way for the trim screws)
- disconnect the connectors of the paddles from the trim/steering wheel buttons.
- take the paddles inside to your desk / table and change paddles according to the YouTube "how to".

Put everything back toghether

Wheel was about $225 + $300 core.

Check out his website:

Couple of good threads on the forum about Coby wheels. Just do a quick search

Welcome Whitefox! Don't believe we've enjoyed your introduction followed by a nice couple of pictures yet, did we...?
Ahh this is an old thread and I guess I'm going to bump it. Here is my introduction. I DD an alpine white E92 m3 ZCP with a borla Axle Back exhaust. Take good care of her and she takes good care of me. Love the car more than most anything. It's awesome
