Super Nintendo had R1 and L1, but then again there was not any racing games to use them like Playstation's controls, but atleast you're not talking about Pong here...

I guess on the street just play around with the paddles, I think they are more fun and convenient than the center console stick. Unfortunately i'm not in SoCal very much but I can hook you up with some good instructors out there.
Yea just practice on the streets if anything. I used to be in the "feels great when you do a perfect blip" but honestly its not like one who knows how to heel toe only gets it 50% of the time.

Once i drove the 458, i got over heel toeing quickly.

At least if i were to drive a manual at this point, i wouldnt struggle but dct is just fun as hell. Not fun in my girls 135 but in that 458 it was way too fun. M3 is prob almost as fun. I might need to trade for an e92 dct maybe.

Im gonna be at Big Willow Speed District on the 23rd. you should make it out.

I drive a E93 M 6MT, but DCT would be preferred on a track as people mentioned above.
If I may add, it would be easier to do left foot braking to reduce loss sector time on conor/chicaine/hairpin/etc.

Great job! Looks like you had fun. Don't you wish he just let you drive the last 2 laps without giving you the "play by play" instruction? You know, give you a chance to enjoy the engine sound a bit more.

I've practiced left foot braking on my car (6mt) and my girls dct 135i before and had it down for a while. Once i dont do it for a while and then try, well the car comes to a complete stop! Lol

The cool thing about a dct M3 that has cat less xpipe is from inside cabin as a driver, the car sounds very similar to a Ferrari due to the intake noise with individual throttle bodies and high revving v8, and cat less pipes adds Hugh pitched howl. From outside Ferrari sounds a lot better but from drivers seat you really get an exotic car experience down to using dct that's the same as a 458. I

nonsense. dct has got nothing to do with car sound even though the gearing ratios are minimally different, if you know how to race your manual gearbox you'll get the same sounds. I guess rather than admitting they can't do that, people will try to fault the manual gearbox.

Huh? I didn't say dct had anything to do with sound but rather was discussing the experience as a whole in an M3 dct you have essentially the same tranny and shifting as the latest Ferrari supercar. Couple with cat less pipes and intake filter, those provide in cabin sound extremely similar to Ferraris . Now if you hear from outside they sound little alike but iits the intake noise that is largely similar and high pitched exhaust when cat less.

I'm by no means comparing the two as there is no comparison performance number rise but for an overall driving experience the e92 M3 gives driver a very similar cockpit experience to ferrar.

that's the beauty of the S65, the M division introductory technical note on the S65 in 2007 was all about formula one racing and high revving. It didn't say Ferrari but it was easy to guess from reading those pages that was the model for the design. When you say intake filter, do you mean the stock one or some aftermarket ?

because believe it or not, the rpms approach redline that fast LOL....I shifted just short of redline and disregarded his "upshift/downshift" comments....which were pretty much in line with when he said it.

Very cool experience, the sound is worth the price alone. Better than donating a grand to a casino

I understand that the main objective is to keep the environment safe/keep the cars in one piece, but that guy didn't shut up! After a couple laps why couldn't he keep his instruction to a lower level and allow you to get some momentum going? Sometimes less is more.

I attended Exotics Racing in Las Vegas a few years back and put about a dozen laps on a Porsche Cayman R (PDK). If you've never done any driver training the class is probably useful. However, if you've done any autox or driver's training events the mandatory class beforehand is frustratingly boring.

Overall, it's a great venue and a good value, IMO. I intend to do more laps (in a different car) the next time I'm in Vegas so don't misinterpret my comments as negative.

If your son hasn't done any HPDE then the class will be worthwhile.

Thanks for the info.......yeah I have plenty of track time so it'll be snooze time for me . But my son should benefit from the class ..........Phil

A drop in high flow filter like AA . Makes intake noise even louder. Not that it doesn't sound great otherwise but its going cat less that really brings out the ferrariesque sound from the cabin
