I didn't remove the exhaust. Putting the rivets back in was easy.

BTW the genuine BMW rivets are pretty cheap at Tischer.

Just thought I'd update this thread.
I just had my new CYBA Black Chrome exhaust tips installed by the pros. It took them a half hour from start to finish and the end product turned out amazing I suppose this could be done as a DIY however much easier and faster with air tools and a hoist as well as dropping the exhaust a bit.

If that shop only took a half hour, I'd just tell others to go to a professional too. That's only like $50 to save you the aggravation of getting said tools, unbolting the exhaust, etc.

I actually don't recommend nice bits. You'll make them dull and useless. So buy the cheap multipacks and toss them when you're done.
You don't need to drop the exhaust completely, you can just disconnect most of the mounting points. But, dropping the rear section really isnt that hard if you have the right equipment. An Angle drill is highly recommended for the rivets topside. And it should take you 30 minutes if you have all the proper tools. |

I am working on extending the stock tips. Finally got one extended....but it is taking me FOREVER. Any other tips to get these off / drill through this hard metal? I have tried a cordless drill as well as a powerful drill hammer. All w titanium tips or cobalt tips.
Here is a pic of the one tip extended. I want to do the rest... but almost ready to give up unless I find a faster solution. |

Just removed the stock tips today after reading this post and watching the YouTube video below which made everything easy. I really appreciate whoever made the video as that technique worked like a charm getting these off. I'm not sure if they are a fellow forum member, but cheers! Thank you.

Guys really sorry to tell this, but if you can't take the rivets off don't even try more. You might be the guy that's going to drill himself and end up spin the hospital. Get a handy friend or your wife. Sorry guys but don't do stupid things.

I got mine at Home Depot. I used aluminum 5/32 x 1/4 in I believe. The smallest they had. Make sure to get lots of drill bits and punch the old ones when ou done.
