Leather Ceramic Coat

The Gtecniq Ultra Serum is the best of the best, but almost impossible to buy retail. It's slightly harder and thicker than the Adam's Advanced Graphene Coating for exterior. I was worried about the idea of ceramic on an interior leather but did it anyway, Adam's brand. It has provided a great base layer of protection, zero shine. Only difference is there seems to be a "glitter" at certain angles in the perforations, maybe leftover crystals??

My question now is would use of a conditioner do anything?? I want to keep the seats hydrated but wonder if chosing a ore durbale high end ceramic leather coating prevents my compliments desire to massage my leather with butter 😀 igotta believe that even with a ceramic "barrier" the conditioner has to be beneficial in some way and not just negated...?

I bought this for my incoming M440 (at the port in Germany). Tried it yesterday on a new leather recliner in the bedroom. Smell was not as bad as packaged described and it was simple to use. I dropped some water on the recliner this morning and it beaded right up. .

Detailers were charging $399 here for this treatment, figure I saved about $340...and it was SIMPLE to use!

Sensafin is vinyl, I would not wast you’re money on doing this to a vinyl, keep it cleaned and apply a vinyl conditioner like 303 protector and be done.

Leather that has been color coated (aka, a plastic's SEM dye) is fine to put a coating on IMO.
Good leather like Merino, I would never

If one is concerned about raw jeans + ivory, I get the point of doing it...

However, if one has real leather that is not color coated.....be mindful that adding a protective coating on ~good~ leather basically stops you from adding conditioner to the leather. The coating while not permanent, is fairly semi permanent *it does wear over time* ~a long time though~

I‘ve read what you wrote and it makes a lot of sense! Now I in fact do have ivory and it‘s basically a new car so I was thinking to apply gyeon leather shield.
I can still remove it after a year or so and then add conditioner to do good to the leather and then again re-apply the leather shiel, does that sound reasonable?

I really don‘t want stains but I‘d also like to keep the buttery/soft leather feel etc..

Also do you maybe know if the leather smell stays longer if ceramic coated?

I'm only kinda kidding. Reading all the "What should I use on my leather?" posts has me a bit anxious - fall is coming, and fall is (gulp) jeans weather... and the only brand of leather cleaner and conditioner everyone seems to agree on is sold out.

What's the second favorite cleaner and conditioner for Marino leather? I don't want to "coat" the leather, right? I want to "condition" it.

I have had a lot of experience with coatings on leathers (and leather in general) as I like to keep the leather in great shape.

Ceramic leather coats may change the look/feel just a LITTLE BIT. If you coat half a seat and compare you may notice. It will definitely feel different if you apply coat after coat.
It does protect from staining and makes cleaning easier but won't protect from wear and scuffs as some think.

Overall, better vs conditioners. Even nappa (or nicer) leathers come from factory with coating so the leather conditioners don't "penetrate" a lot. The ceramic coat will seat on top of it.

Just got a M3 with red interior and Im coating the seats. Not steering wheel or dash as I do feel changes the feel of it a little bit.

Coating ventilated/perforated seats is ok as is just a thin layer and won't "drip" into the ventilation holes and is better than using conditioner. Some conditioners will clot those holes, especially if you apply to much.

As opposed to the paint coatings, IMO is not worth paying to apply. Is easy to do and the products out there are the same for pros and consumers.

I had my tartufo seats coated from new. I don't have a point of reference because I never experienced these seats uncoated. I will say that I just sold my car with 15k miles on it and the seats literally had ZERO discernable wear...and I say this as someone who is completely crazy and OCD about the tiniest imperfection. No shiny bolsters or bolster wear - literally still perfect. Like I said, I can't say how much of a difference the coating made but I will be having it done again when my 2027 arrives. My installer uses System X.
