Do them.
I have only had my car since October. I knew the issue going into the purchase, but didn't realize how much it would affect my enthusiasm for driving the car. Every time I'd rev it out, I'd carefully listen "oh shit, is it ticking? Is it gonna blow? Did I let it warm up long enough?". I had them done, and can't tell you how much fun it is to drive this thing without constantly thinking about the bearings.

Hi,
I recently purchased a 2009 e92m3. The rod bearing was done by previous owner around 40k miles ago. Be bearings used for the change. Is there any need to replace the rod bearings again? My only concern is if the correct oil weight has been used and also car has been regularly serviced and warmed up properly. |

There’s not enough data to say definitively. I am one of only a handful of folks who have put on a second set. The VAC bearings that came off after like 70k miles were pristine. I now think the one and done mindset is probably fine, assuming your prior owner didn’t slap another set from bmw in there (it happens). With BE confirmed in your case - you’re good. Would focus your preventative dollars on bolt on vanos covers, new fuel injectors, and an inline fuel filter. Welcome! Last edited by CamasM3e93; 12-07-2024 at 07:31 PM.. |
