I have a 2011.75 w just over 42k miles and am installing rod bearings next week, per Harrop's instructions, over 6 months since install cos I've procrastinated. I'll be installing the ARP kit after much deliberation vs the VAC. Anyone want an in the box VAC kit?
Haven't worried about the bearing thing really. Right or wrong. Hopefully they can hold out another few days ![]() Seriously tho I'll be interested to see how they compare to yours. Not that I've been searching the forum for bearing threads but I've yet to see anyone replace a set that looked good. Anyone?

I posted that link with the video for him from the guy on the ring with bearing failure , this link with the video from the failure on the ring => # 1067 http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...786615&page=49 And probably you don't saw this link ? And hope you got this situation now ? He said to me who says it is bearing failure while loud rattle noises and smoke came from under the hood... C'mon rattle noises and smoke from under the hood of a S65...What could this be ? ![]() That's why my sarcastic comment like....The rattle noise was only caused by the aftermarket exhaust ect... Also my English is not 100% and I have sometimes troubles with the grammar . I speak and read ....write 4 languages, but English is not my first language..my first language is Flemish ,because I live in the flemish part of Belgium. Sorry for that bro , I'm working on my English but it takes time and I just know that my grammar really s@cks . Thank you for your kind words .

What do you think of the video/link of that BF on the ring ? You should "hear" my English accent ... Another problem that I have is that they want a interview of me here => http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1140833 So I refused more than once...She said to me you can type English...so you can speak too.. ![]()

Oh, you mean wpc treated bearings with ARP bolts right? According to the testing done here the VAC's were thinner I thought...

Also no match for he's username on here , so it's no member on here . And of course it was BF because smoke came from under the hood and the rattle noises...ohhh man , so there was probably also a black hole in S65 engine block . So sadly it's a + 1 on the counter on here .

If ever there has been a problem with no answer, then it's the bearing issue with S65. I think this has gone on enough to dump this $shit. If the engine fails so be it. People die. Man, I don't know how many internet hours have been wasted on this BS. Just drive the bloody car and have a grin.
If the engine blows then wipe it off. ![]() Seriously guys, did you buy a car to have sleepless nights over something that may happen, or to enjoy it. Go figure. ![]() Every time, there is a ticking noise or someone changing the bearing, a new thread and a new theory, and all the BS that goes with it. ![]() Why won't you just sell the bloody thing and buy an indestructible Toyota. At least you will sleep well at night and save $2500 on bearing, and not spend countless hours on the internet. ![]() |

So I was thinking back on your post...comment from you yesterday and thought it's all about this .. You said in your last words of that comment..."This could have been one of us" => post #1077 http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...786615&page=49 And so I thought...It's actually all about that and why we see all these reactions in case of BF . In other words..We are the owers of such an amazing car and at the same time it gives us a really unreliable feeling of the car , and that's why we see emotions that speak .

Look, I tried M1 0w-40, and I started to hear strange noise through the exhaust, at start up and after properly warmed. The start up was way too loud for my liking, and some vibration through the exhaust. May be because I have test pipes. I was not convinced. Swapped over to TWS, and it all sounded normal. Yes, my oil test came up with 1 ppm of lead compared to 5 ppm with TWS. But what's the trade off. That's why I said, there is no solution. I cannot be bothered anymore. I've had the car for eight years now, and touchwood, no major dramas. Life is too short. I thought I had a perfect marriage only to realise that I was kidding myself. So, if the engine blows, it's no biggie for me anymore! |

Anyhow, your statement of hearing the exhaust sound change because of an engine oil is laughable! That is impossible, you need to think about this rationally, you saw less lead from 0W40 but you are now running TWS again because of a change in exhaust sound that was all in your head. I think by reading your posts you actually are letting this get you crazier than the guys that just choose to swap their bearings for peace of mind and keep driving their cars. I obviously am one of the believers that proper clearance on the rod bearings will rectify any issue the S65/S85 is having with accelerated bearing wear. One could either buy the VAC added clearance bearings, the WPC bearings or wait for the custom Clevite bearings that should be available in October and install them and ensure their engine lives a long life. Option two is they could come on here and hijack threads saying they are sick of this shit and people are all crazy but the risk of their engine blowing up is still there, and it is actually greater because they choose not to be proactive and listen to people that know engines who are trying to help them save theirs. Take your pick which one you want to be. |

People who cross compare engine components across various manufacturers, yet dismiss the WIDELY varying ranges of maintenance practices, make no sense. Also YES, this stuff if getting blown out of proportion by attention seekers. If you genuinely want to help others with this issue and not draw attention to yourself, then please put these "preventive maintenance, bearing picture" threads in the MAINTENANCE section, where they belong, and not in the engine modification section for unnecessary arguments, and high thread views.

Have you done a uoa? I'd think that would tell you. Shouldn't be any lead with the later bearings.

Just do an analysis. You would have zero lead anywhere in the report.
