If these wheels are specifically designed for the M3 and they are not fitting correctly, I would first check with the manufacturer of wheel to see what size they recommend for their wheel. They should know exactly what tire size is best for their wheel if the wheel was designed to be used on the M3. 1. 245/40/18 is the narrowest we would recommend on a 9.5" width wheel. The rim edge will poke out a little, but it would not be consider stretched because it is withing the rim width range of the tire. 245/40/18 has a rim width range of 8.0-9.5". Using 245/40/18 on a 9.5" width rim will cause the sidewall to flex very little under corning, this will make the turn in feel extremely precise. 225 would be stretched and would be unsafe. Stretching a tire beyond it's designed rim width will add stress to the sidewall and the bead of the tire. Using anything smaller than 245, you run the risk of the tire coming off the wheel. 2. Rubbing would be less on a 9" than the 9.5"... But that's dependent on the exact tire and wheel and offset being used. If all things are equal, then one would expect rubbing to be less on a 9". If you have any further questions, please email me directly. Thank you. |

When will Tire Rack be getting in your inventory of Winter Tires for our M3s? Specifically, I want to put winters on my 19" OEM style 359 zcps. What will be available and when (Michelin Alpin 4s, Blizzak LM-001s, etc.)? And what sizes do you recommend OEM 245/265 or minus 1 235/255? Please do not suggest going to 18" because I have a BBK which will not accommodate 18" wheels so I am stuck using my 19" wheels.

You asked: 1) Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on an e92 m3. Answer: They work great and deliver about 95% of the PS4S peak grip in dry and wet but with better deep water hydroplaning performance and wear life. They come with a 45K mileage warranty. 2) How would this preform in the winter? Answer: The PSAS4 is NOT a dedicated winter or snow tire but it still delivers decent snow mobility to get around in mild snow covered winter road conditions. Think snow depths of 1 to 3 inches. 3) And how would it preform to a full snow tire? Answer: PSAS4 delivers about 70% to 75% of peak grip of a dedicated winter snow and ice tire depending upon the test vehicle and conditions. IF you live in areas where certified "snow flake" winter tires are required such as Canada then buy a Winter Snow tire instead. If you want snow performance slightly higher than PSAS4 but below a dedicated winter tire then buy the Cross Climate (which has lower wet and dry grip than the PSAS4). See chart below. 4) Would it be totally screwed as soon as I encountered any type of snow? Answer: No .

Speaking about tires , 3 weeks ago I've put the new "Michelin's CrossClimate 2" at my Mini . My findings : In the wet , the grip of these tires is "Phenomenal" ! There is no competition for this tires in the rain .. In the tests they show also a great grip in the snow . Because It's actually a 4 seasons tire . Downside : They make more road noise by the extreme grip , but it's never annoying . The tire tread (big V-profile) looks ugly.

Query on E92 M3 tyres
Hi There!
Will there be any trouble if I change the tyre size to 275/45/18 Rear, 245/45/18 front for an E92 M3? Can anyone suggest me? Present tyre size is 245/40/18 at the front and 265/40/18 at the back. Can anyone help me to solve this query? |
