Awesome, thanks for the pictures. It looks like there MIGHT be enough room between the snouts and the plastic felt stuff under the bumper. Did you have any kind of guide helping with the bumper removal, or just wing it?

Only dealer in B'ham quoted $680, $350 parts, $330 labor. Clearly, I really appreciate the detailed DIY posted here! Thanks.

wow, I can't believe that it doesn't come with an alarm in the states! I don't think ANY BMW come without an alarm in the UK, not even the cheapest 1 series.

ever since my alarm install my bluetooth has been crappy. I was wondering if its possible that the installer messed up the microphone in the installation process. Is it possible for the microphone to be messed up while installing the alarm?

No alarm on base US car
True, but look what you pay vs. us for a comparably equipped car!

Correct, no lug wrench or jack. You need to add those, especially if you carry a space saver spare on trips.

I had several erractic activations of the alarm before coding, so I personally wouldn't install this any further in advance of coding than necessary. A few were when sitting quietly in my garage, another in a parking lot. In the latter it is possible I hit the trunk/panic button but I don't think so. In the other instances, nobody was anywhere near the keys or car.
After coding, all seems good! |
