Thx for the links! By the way do you track your M3 with the Harrop blower? Curious if you ever get overheating issues (engine oil or DCT). I have the ESS 650 and have never had a problem overheating on the track. But some others have.

For the tubing, I'd go to eBay or Summit racing - $40. The black hoses work fine.

Depending on my mood, and soccer Mom traffic, it's a drift fest ride for me most days. I haven't had any overheating issues yet, but I have not had my Harrop SC long enough yet to know how it will handle South Carolina summers. But then again, Harrop is in Australia which is bloody hot..

If the oil on mine creeps over 210, I turn both heater thermostats to 84, and click the fan on one notch, open the passenger side window an couple of inches and direct the air into the footwell. The heater brings the oil temp down to around 190 ish quite quickly- at least in winter (was 66F here today)..

The Harrop kit has an air to water heat exchanger behind the bumper and the compressed inlet air is fed over two air to water heat exchanges inside the plenum (one per bank). Seems to work quite well on the street, but I also run 2.5gals of E85 with every tank of E10 93 and that cools things down as well.

I would hazard a guess that seven or eight hard laps of tracks with long straights (driven at max attack 10/10ths) like Road America, Road Atlanta, or Miller Motorsports Park, might over tax the E92 M3 cooling system and cause the Harrop heat exchangers to heat sink, but I have no proof of that (like under hood temps) - just pure speculation on my part given what I've seen by minor temp gauge creep due to my drifting my work into work....

DaveDee runs his Harrop on track in Australia. I'll ask him.
Interesting info regarding the heater to reduce oil temps. I'll try that at the track and see what it does if my temps every get hot.

I also run a couple gallons of e85 with every tank. The motor loves it. Makes more power than with a mix of pump and MS109 and seems not to lose power in the summer when it's really hot...although that is also helped by my supplemental 5 gallon trunk-mounted water tank which dramatically reduces intake temps and maintains peak power. Here's what it did for me on a 100 degree day at an airstrip event:

Since your Harrop kit uses an air-to-water intercooler, this would be a good mod for you.

Dang.. now that's getting my attention i.e. outrunning the Hellcat. Freakin' awesome. The blue 335i with 750 crank hp is something else. I had seen some of those runs on your YouTube channel, but very nice compilation none the less. Your ESS SC has none of the high pitched whine my Harrop TVS blower has - at least I could not detect any from the vid, and the reliability seems very good.

Harrop only runs 6psi boost, but it's enough for what I'm doin'. Just a quick friendly tip, always wear nomex flame retardant driving gloves, even in the airstrip environment. Talking about high speed runs on airstrips: the sustained high speeds cause the tire temps to get hot very rapidly. For this reason, and the centrifugal forces imposed on the crown of the tire, inflate the tires a good 5 to 6psi higher than you would run on the street. Your tires will thank you, and it gives an extra factor of safety. Also, re-check your lug nut torques before each high speed run.

A good personal friend of mine (contract driver [hired gun]) made a record breaking run on an air strip for John Hennessey's company in 2014. He ran 270.49mph (record book verified) in a street legal car. If you haven't seen the video you can at the link below (12.8 million views on YouTube). I told him almost the same thing, i.e. "don't forget to wear your gloves 'cos it's real hard to put fire out without them on, and don't try and look at the women at the side of the track".

Good point on the fire retardant jacket and gloves. Especially as I run 100% meth on my other race car which is quite a bit faster than my M3. I have an extinguisher in that car but I need to protect myself.

Also good point on the tire pressure. Forgot how that affects the tires at speed.

By the way the 335 in the vid actually makes 750 wheel HP, not 750 crank. I made a mistake on the vid. Makes sense given how he just flew away from me in the triple digits.

I did see that Venom vid. Incredible!

Wouldn't the tire pressure automatically increase once the tires heat up? How does increasing the pressure counter act the tire pressure rising at temperature? Seems backwards unless I'm misunderstanding what is being said.

From what he was saying earlier I think in a different thread, if your tires are under-inflated and put under stress, they'll get to the pressure you want, but it doesn't seem good for the tire's wear/long term survivability.

Adam, glad to see the cars safe and nothing happened other then an off.

Keep thread updated, but as you said - safe driving to me - safe distance - respectable in my book.

Thx bro will do!

By the way the 5 gallon water tank worked like a charm at the track. Always had full power, unlike the previous track events where the car would slow down dramatically after a few laps with the stock intercooler system.

He left and took his posts with him. Sucks because they were super informative.
