It would be great to have a culture of responsibility like in Germany. If your car isn't safe at 85, drive slower. Everyone in the US seems to have an auto 5-15mph over the speed limit, independant of what car they are in or traffic conditions. So sad!

I have to agree about speed limits being in place for revenue as the primary objective...it's been proven time and time again. The federal reserve did a study a few years back which correlated drops in tax revenue with increased traffic ticket writing.
...the avg Americans ego won't let them select a proper speed for their vehicle & skill level. When I drive the M I generally cruise @ 85mph, it seems to be the flow of traffic speed in so cal. On the flip side when driving my truck I rarely exceed 75mph...why, because it does not feel stable beyond that speed. Unfortunately most Southern Californians would drive the same truck @ 85...the flow of the fast left lane traffic. |

As others have said, no limit wouldn't work in the US. Too many shitheaps getting driven way too fast and too many boy (and women) racers weaving in between lanes. Plus, there is no proper fast lane due to zero lane discipline. |

Right. So it makes I-10 near Seguin an equivalent time (or maybe less?) than, say, Seguin to SA. Either way, I love it as also will make getting to the F1 Austin COTA track easier coming from the S.
