No one buying a $20k Audi in 8 years has the money for $7k for one rotor. they'll get creative. Or, they'll be offered cheaper than $7k. I'm guessing both. |

My point is, you're buying and driving an M3, you knew you had to spend a bit more on maintenance, buy the proper parts. FCP euro parts has a warranty where they give you lifetime replacement for any part. That means buy one set of rotors from them and when they wear, send it back for a new replacements. This alternative is cost friendly and you will be running proper OEM rotors vs gambling with your life every time you drive fast. |

Real world driving and track testing will reveal how well or not well these $42 one piece rotors work. I dont think they will fail on the second lap at the track or mean you are gambling with your life every time you drive fast. We will know soon enough.
I personally bought BMW rotors, because they are lighter than one piece rotors and last for years with my driving. But I support people trying the inexpensive one piece rotors and do not subscribe to the theory that because you have a bmw you should spend a lot of money on original bmw parts. |

Having operated a shop here for years, I can without a doubt certify that a significant percentage of BMW owners are among the cheapest of car owners, many being in it only for the "fame".

I don't know what people are doing to warp their rotors on street driving. I feel like I don't even use my brakes that much to begin with as the engine slows itself and I'm not racing redlight to redlight like I'm 18 yrs old. I have not skimped on my E90 M at all. I've stayed ahead on maintenance, including "lifetime" fluid changes, and also do oil changes every 5k miles. (Just spent $2k on all that and new tires a week ago, without hesitation.) This is more out of low-cost curiosity for me than it is one of purely saving money. If I really wanted to save money on my car, I would have driven a Prius. If my RockAuto $42 rotor actually cracks while just daily street driving, I know not to buy these again, and would warn everyone on here not to buy them. The only problem is that my OEM rotors are still holding strong...so I can't justify "downgrading" to these anytime soon. That would actually be throwing money away.

Some parts I absolutely would buy OE parts bc they're a pain to replace or are mission critical...I'm on the fence with these rotors. I'd probably try them, bc all-in they're cheaper than one OE rotor, but I've been using cheap blanks for years with high quality (OE or OE 'formulated') pads and have yet to have an issue. For me, I'd buy them and DIY them just to see. Not a lot of skin in the game there. I do, however, wish someone like Centric made them. Would have a lot more confidence in them. Here's another seller of the same Bendix M3 brake rotor. It actually looks similar to the way a lot of current Mercedes rotors are made. Interesting. http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/7...xoC16cQAvD_BwE Last edited by tlow98; 03-20-2018 at 01:26 PM.. |

There is a difference between being cheap and being smart/open to the idea of research. That is all he is saying... Plus if they are proven to work, even on the track, would you not want to know that there is a cheap alternative out there?

Note: If I was going to track the car, I would NOT be buying these. That is my eventual plan with the car, when I can afford to and have a 3 car garage. Yet when I go that route I'm going with a BBK and the accompanying rotors.

there's warping and then there's 'warping'. i just assume people are talking about pad deposits. only time i've had issues with rotors was due to improper bedding procedure or getting grease on the rotor or pad during installation. but i don't track.

You mean the "warping" where the local chain is trying to convince you that you MUST replace all 4 corners pads and rotors for $1000-1400 or your car is going to flip over when trying to stop at the neighborhood stop sign.

Hello, there is an interesting discussion going on in M3Post about your Bendix PRT6345 rotors (1 of the 4 corners just to give you an idea). The question is can an aftermarket rotor that sells for $42 be reliable on an 2008-2013 E9X series BMW M3 and specifically for street and track use. There is some general interest in your product and I think that a response from your company on real world testing and any data you would like to share could go a long way with potential customers looking to save a substantial sum of money on a safe and reliable alternative to OEM rotors. I look forward to your response which I plan on posting on the M3Post forum with your permission as my question to you is being posted and members will hopefully be looking forward to your response also. Yours truly, BOOF-M3 |

Rotors and Brakes
I just bought my rear Rotors and Pads from FCP Euro, and when they wear out I get them replaced for free just ship the old ones back, sticking with the OEM or Zimmerman or rebranded by BMW. This works for me.

Most people won’t still own their M3 by the time they wear out their second set of rotors. I replaced my originals at 90k miles and the car was 10 years old. I have had it for 8 years and 60k of those miles, but won’t still have it when it is 20 years old and has 180k miles. I might keep it another 5 years.
