I also recall when porsche did compete in gts class for one season with Chevy it took first place. Fact is porsche is still the single most successful maker in the world by large margin. |

If you want to talk about motorsports, lets get into how much better Renaults are than Ferraris based on F1 the last couple years. See how stupid that sounds? |

Perception lags reality..... Do you still think the 3 series is still the ultimate driving machine? I don't. I enjoyed driving the Cadillac ATS more than my dads E90 335xi. And that is despite the N54 being on another level compared to the LFX in the ATS. The Alpha platform the ATS rides on is simply the better chassis. In the corners, the ATS just brings a smile to my face.

Oh and yes like the post above. They won the ALMS championship last season and they are currently leading the ALMS championship right now. Plus all their Le Mans victories. |

I really like P-cars too (the new GT3 is amazing), but I don't drink the BS kool-aid. Facts are facts, the Vettes put down the numbers and back them up time and time again. |

Shocker. An internet thread about the vette turned into a 911 vs Vette pissing match.
The vette has always been faster in a straight line. The vette has recently been an equally, if not better handling car as well. The porsche trumped it on everything else that goes into a car, but apparently, the new vette has closed the gap (granted, the 991 is so much more luxurious than the 997). If you can afford to spend 100k on a porsche, you dont need to justify it in that it's faster than the vette. Seriously, as a bunch of people driving bmw's, we're in no place to argue the merit on spending 100k on a porsche over a vette when we all spent 45k-55k on cars that would get shat on buy mustang gt's, even on a track. Porsche offers some things that corvette doesn't... PDK and all wheel drive. Some people, myself included, just enjoy driving a car with a heavy rear weight bias. I don't get jollies out of having the world's fastest laptime. But there's wicked fun to be had in a rear wheel drive 997. At the same time, the vette is the best bang for your buck in the universe these days, so there's absolutely a place for both of them. The 911 and the Vette are the two best everyday sportscars there are. One uses a sledgehammer V8, one uses a high strung flat 6. One has the engine in the front, one in the back. In this world of consumer cars masquereding as sports cars (cough M3, cough mustang). Just be grateful these two old timers are still kicking. But personally, i'd take an alpha-9 GTR. Thanks

For reference:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html I'm thinking the Stingray will be quicker around the track than the ZL1 and the ZL1 was quicker than the 911S by a not so insignificant 1.5 seconds. http://www.caranddriver.com/features...r-times-page-8 And the ZR1, which is actually priced much closer to the 911S, is a full 8 seconds quicker. http://www.caranddriver.com/features...r-times-page-7

I just wish people were more informed. If you wanna say the Corvette is not luxurious and doesn't have the build quality of a Porsche, that's fine. No one will argue that. But don't spout off things which can be quantified and proven wrong. |
