The C4 stayed around too long because of GM's crappy financial management and really scarred a lot of people despite the C4 ZR-1 being awesome. Should've been replaced in the early 90's.
Of course. Just didn't wanna seem too biased. Although what really is bias? I've owned both, so therefore I'm drawing from experience. Unlike others...

Sorry but porsche still makes badass cars. That's why no Chevy product could ever compare to a GT porsche. Never seen any vette win best performance car of the year or the best car of the year like the GT3/RS/4.0 has.
Since you're so keen on magazine lap-times, you are aware that Corvettes mop the floor with Porsches any time they're put on a track together, right? Take a look at lap times around Laguna (from C&D, I believe):

Corvette ZR1 - 2:45.63
Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR - 2:48:60
Ferrari 458 2:49.90
Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (LP570-4) - 2:51.80
Camaro ZL1 - 2:52.38
Nissan GT-R - 2:53.20
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - 2:53.50
Lexus LFA - 2:55.10
Posche 911 GT3 RS - 2:55.90

Musta been a fluke, right?

There is no comparison on the track. Corvette mops porsche.

Well in the 4 years they've been competing porsche has beaten them 3/4 seasons if I remember correctly.
I also recall when porsche did compete in gts class for one season with Chevy it took first place.
Fact is porsche is still the single most successful maker in the world by large margin.

You're really looking for anything to grab onto, huh?

If you want to talk about motorsports, lets get into how much better Renaults are than Ferraris based on F1 the last couple years. See how stupid that sounds?

Perception lags reality..... Do you still think the 3 series is still the ultimate driving machine? I don't. I enjoyed driving the Cadillac ATS more than my dads E90 335xi. And that is despite the N54 being on another level compared to the LFX in the ATS. The Alpha platform the ATS rides on is simply the better chassis. In the corners, the ATS just brings a smile to my face.

The Corvette racing team is one of the top teams period. They are well oiled race team. Ask anyone up and down the paddock, Corvette Racing is very well respected.

Oh and yes like the post above. They won the ALMS championship last season and they are currently leading the ALMS championship right now. Plus all their Le Mans victories.

Hell the $250,000 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is still 5 seconds slower around the ring than the ZR1.

I really like P-cars too (the new GT3 is amazing), but I don't drink the BS kool-aid. Facts are facts, the Vettes put down the numbers and back them up time and time again.

Shocker. An internet thread about the vette turned into a 911 vs Vette pissing match.

The vette has always been faster in a straight line. The vette has recently been an equally, if not better handling car as well. The porsche trumped it on everything else that goes into a car, but apparently, the new vette has closed the gap (granted, the 991 is so much more luxurious than the 997).

If you can afford to spend 100k on a porsche, you dont need to justify it in that it's faster than the vette. Seriously, as a bunch of people driving bmw's, we're in no place to argue the merit on spending 100k on a porsche over a vette when we all spent 45k-55k on cars that would get shat on buy mustang gt's, even on a track.

Porsche offers some things that corvette doesn't... PDK and all wheel drive. Some people, myself included, just enjoy driving a car with a heavy rear weight bias. I don't get jollies out of having the world's fastest laptime. But there's wicked fun to be had in a rear wheel drive 997. At the same time, the vette is the best bang for your buck in the universe these days, so there's absolutely a place for both of them. The 911 and the Vette are the two best everyday sportscars there are. One uses a sledgehammer V8, one uses a high strung flat 6. One has the engine in the front, one in the back. In this world of consumer cars masquereding as sports cars (cough M3, cough mustang). Just be grateful these two old timers are still kicking.

But personally, i'd take an alpha-9 GTR. Thanks

Too be honest I think they are worth 100k+. The hater is just using the wrong arguments against the Vette and what makes a P-car so great.

For reference:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

I'm thinking the Stingray will be quicker around the track than the ZL1 and the ZL1 was quicker than the 911S by a not so insignificant 1.5 seconds.
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...r-times-page-8

And the ZR1, which is actually priced much closer to the 911S, is a full 8 seconds quicker.

Yeah this wouldn't have happened if wolfinwolfsclothing didn't come spouting off about how the 991S would obliterate the C7. lol

It's inevitable, and not necessarily a bad thing. It's an open discussion on cars, after all.

I just wish people were more informed. If you wanna say the Corvette is not luxurious and doesn't have the build quality of a Porsche, that's fine. No one will argue that. But don't spout off things which can be quantified and proven wrong.

I'm really looking forward to the C7 Z51.

Definitely on my radar screen as possible replacement for my Z435i.

Did you get passed by a base C6 in your GT3 last time out at the track or something?
