Watched the whole video. As an intermediate student, I admire your car control.
With mdm on, I am noticing reduced throttle coming out of some corners, so I am experimenting with traction fully off. I have been humbled a few times. I am much more confident with the mdm on, but I feel that it is a security blanket that will instill bad habits if I really want to progress as a driver. That said, my 1m is my daily and I have to keep that in mind during hpde driving. Luckily in Texas most tracks have plenty of run off too which is comforting. I really need to take a car control class or do a private track day with instruction so I can put myself in uncomfortable scenarios with a more experienced driver guiding me in a safe environment. Keep up the good work! |

For example, I had JRZ suspension put on the car in July of last year and, on the first track day with it, I found front passenger side rebound knob to have gotten seized (or, installed too tight) and so couldn't adjust it, so I just ran that day with all 4 corners and 8 adjustment knobs in street settings and I had a helluva time that day. New suspension, didn't know what to expect from it, set it too soft (it was softer than OE ZCP), etc, so spun out & went off a lot. So, I edited & compiled a video containing all the oh sh*t moments from that day & posted it with explicit disclaimer at the beginning of said video explaining all this and that it's only meant to be an entertainment. Most of the viewers were, of course, amused. But, a couple of'em posted things like "dude, you are dangerous, you should not be on a track, etc, etc." Reading-comprehension issue, anyone? Quote:
Yep, that's exactly why I decided to go DSC off. That moment where the throttle gets reduced and the car seems to come to a stand-still seems to last longer & longer as you get faster.

Debating whether to run BRP on Sunday... My car's not quite 100% ready, but it might be by Satuday. BRP on Sunday would be a good shake-down event...

A perfect example it TWS. There's only about 2 really safe areas to go off. Otherwise you risk launching your car from a ditch on the outside of a lot of turns. The the outside of keyhole at HMSR...that's a massive swamp. The infield of MSRH between the straights connecting Diamond's Edge? There's 2 ditches and lots of drainage pipes. The ONLY track that has a lot of safe run off is MSR 1.7.

If It was SV or Extreme, and I decide at the last minute to run, I can just show up on Sunday and run. But, with NCRC, I don't know if they'll be flexible like that. I've only run once with them before, at Thunderhill last year.
Anyhow, Chuckwalla this weekend will be simply too hot (and, too far from home considering I'm trying to shake-down the car and make sure nothing falls off, lulz). And, Auto Club Speedway is just too fast, again, for a shake-down run. So, BRP... We'll see.

Obviously I try not to be pushing it so hard that I lose it off the track, but it has happened (one at MSR, one at HMSR) luckily with no incident other than a car full of dirt. I am still finding dirt in the interior. |

I'll be at the SV Buttonwillow event next weekend, probably on Sunday. I've never ran 13CW backwards, should be interesting. OC3...which is easier...running 13CW or 13CCW?

I'll be there for that Sunday, for sure. I'm leading the B2 class of SV's bimmerChallenge this season, and haven't run for a while due to the car change. Gotta get back to pile up points!

Sweet, I'll be looking to go sub 2:10 with the Nittos and maybe even hit a 2:05. Will Jean be coming out too?

OC3/Jean, I'm getting very tempted to sign up for the Speed District event with all the track time. Are you guys gonna drive up Saturday and spend the night in BW or just driving up Sunday bright and early?

Jean's far from the track, so I'm sure he won't be driving up early Sunday morning.
But, I'm only 100 miles from BRP, so I always drive up early. Edit: sorry, my bad. I mis-read Jean's post and thought he meant BRP on 09/22 with Speed Ventures. I'm doing Chuckwalla on the weekend of 09/28~29

I'm tempted to do Chuckwalla Saturday (28th) and Buttonwillow Sunday (29th). Anybody know which direction they're running on Saturday? |

It's undecided as of right now, but they're thinking CW on Sat & CCW on Sun.
