The only problem I've noticed when running without the spring in there the cruise control sometimes will unengage itself or it won't engage at all because the pedal isn't completely back to stock position I guess is the best way to discribe it

Sorry to bump an old thread. I have done this mod a while back and felt extremely satisfied with it. But a recent mod makes me bring this thread back.
I recently did this Clutch Stop mod from e92-lighting http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ht=clutch+stop , and I feel like putting the springs back to see if it makes any difference, other than decrease the lateral movements. I have the old spring (1 big spring), should I just reinstall it or get the new updated spring? Anyone with the clutch stop and springs? Thanks guys! |

I installed the new spring "Part number: 35-00-6-769-442" this past weekend and like it very much. Pressure is consistent compared to the old spring. Clutch is softer and makes driving in traffic a bit easier.
Tried it without a either springs and didnt like the feel as much as the new spring. |

Just done this (replaced the original 2007 spring with the new version). Initial impressions are that the clutch is noticably lighter than before and feels more linear.
The install took me over half an hour. I eventually realised that the knack is to install the new spring with the clutch pedal depressed and the "}"-shaped rod that connects the two halves of the new spring in place. |

No more one-two stepping. And, it was really starting to hurt my knee. I could feel my knee popping every so often. Thanks everyone. |

I'm bringing back this old thread because I wanted to know if anyone noticed any ill effects from the mod?
One person above mentioned their cruise control shuts off?! Please be candid, I want to do this mod, but not if it will cause any issues or give BMW a reason to deny a claim, like prematurely worn clutch or something. With this spring, combined with the three different throttle position settings, I think its impossible to shift smoothly all the time. Kind of annoying! Still, after 1500 miles, I still think about my shifts - haven't done that in my other cars.

have taken great interest to this post regarding clutch pedal spring removal. i myself driver an earlier E36 M3 Evolution a 1998 model. The overall looks of the spring look the same for all models
I was wondering would the spring removal benefit the E36 models also? |

How hard is it to replace the spring with the clips in the event I want to put it back?

awesome!!
So glad I found this. I have a 335 so I never come to the M3 DIY section. Brought my car to the dealer back when it was under warranty for the clicking clutch... they told me it needed a new spring, and they claim to have ordered it. Waited about a month, then I got sick of the excuses and just dealt with it. Was always planning to poke around under there, never got to it.
When I saw this thread I ran out and did it in the rain this morning. THIS MAKES THE CLUTCH FEEL LIKE A REAL MT CAR AND FIXED THE CLICKING!! Wish I could take the POS spring and shove it up some retarded BMW engineer's a$$ (sorry no offense to anyone here who is actually retarded - and I know some are). THANKS FOR THIS GREAT TIP. |
