Here's the way I look at it ....
I bought my 2012 fully spec'd - I chose *everything*. But that's how I wanted it. Others will buy for less options, some will buy no options. Here's the thing - as long as *you* are happy, you're enjoying your purchase, and you have no regrets, then who cares what everyone else's opinion is. I've come to the conclusion that, frankly, life is too short to worry about what other people think - if they compliment your choices and decisions, then great...if they criticise, who cares. Just enjoy what you have!

Ateam, I resent someone saying I bought my car the way I did because it was all I can afford. I have a medical degree on my wall that says otherwise. By your logic, you should be driving a 7er. If you're not driving one it's because you can barely afford a highly optioned M. Buying something you don't want just because you can afford it? Go troll somewhere else. |

Blanket statements about what people can afford and can't afford are ridiculous...people buy the M3 first and foremost for it's performance capabilities. Everything else is just personal preference. I'm willing to bet that most people who have a modestly equipped M3 also have other vehicles that are loaded with tech.

The E46 and E90 M3 are two cars that I probably won't be selling anytime soon. I want my family's future M Collection to be past down from generation to generation haha...Hopefully my future kids appreciate and long for M cars as much as I do.

i wouldn't want any options either. I'm pretty sure I'm the minority here. I was going to spec my car with split fold down rear seats and that was gonna be it. Maybe ipod also (don't own apple product) and 25% leather. I actually like the cloth insert seats.
I saw a 2008 SparkG E90 for sale at my local dealer with 23k miles with basically NO options. CLEAN outside and inside could've used a detail. Wish the timing was right because I don't know if I'll ever find a no optioned car. Even used cars now I'm looking at have a sh*t load of options. I want.... No sunroof No idrive No nav No EDC No uprated stereo no premium pack no tech pack (or whatever) would accept leather this car is going to be hard to find in a 2008 sparkG E90, so I said I'll get a jet black 09 & 10 instead. I figure would be easier to locate a black stripper M3. |

I totally agree... I regret most of my options on my car... I never use the navigation I never use the upgraded stereo cause I enjoy the the cars soundtrack. If I could re option my car today all I would get is the the m exhaust and the non zcp 19 inch wheels and call it a day. Plus the 2011 all come with the m button so that is basically all I would need

Perhaps you'd do it differently if you had it to do over again, but you can't say you regret anything when that exhaust sound fills the car. Enjoy your machine! |

Heating up ramen noodles on the engine is getting me by for now. Will you guys bury me in my car when it's over? I don't regret a thing. Edit: I see the pic now. Nice ride! Edit2: Love the speed cloth! AKA "foreclosure seats" Last edited by robb7979; 11-07-2011 at 11:35 AM.. |

None what so ever. When I bought the car and posted this originally, I was suprised (pleasantly) that BMW would still offer a no nonsense performer. I have a 2011 MDX that has so much Tech stuff it makes my head hurt.

Ok, I just caved. Went from the minimally (and stupidly IMO) configured 2011 E90 I was looking at (DCT, 19" wheels, BWM assist, Sat radio, Silver leather) to a car that has everything except enhance premium sound. So much for keeping things simple. I'd rather have options I don't need than wish I had options I don't have. I think it's dumb to pay $1200 for 19"wheels when you can get the comp package for $2500.

though i wouldn't want a stripped out car, I have a E90 stickered at 67k, i could do without half of my options, mostly headlight washer and EDC and moonroof.
Nav - yes need/want it, 08 comes with MDM with nav w/tech package. heated seats - it's nice, real nice when you live in cold environments fold down rear seats - yes, need it, increases utility of car, I can fit all 4 tires in it for swapping out during winter/summer months. How do you do arrange for this in your non fold down rear seat car, buy new tires every year, tow your car to the garage? sunshade - makes a difference when parked in summer. How much weight does it really save? Leather - come on it's a BMW, "no itch strictly leather" Last edited by mdosu; 11-09-2011 at 08:05 PM.. |
