Sorry to hear that bud, but that's not a big repair at all.
There are "bumper repair" guys out there that specialize in this easy stuff. They heat gun it and pop it out. Then maybe get some medium abrasive polish and buff the shit out of it. At worse, go to Platinum Auto on Glenco right down from Costco. They sprayed bumpers for me for cheap. Talk to the Asian lady if possible if she's still there. She knows what's going on there and gave me good prices on mod painting and install. Just tell them you're paying out of pocket. Good luck. Been there before too. Definitely not worth telling the insurance for that. .

LOL at all the people saying not to use insurance. If you don't want to use insurance you should save your money and drop the collision coverage (if car is owned outright)..
Why do we have insurance in the first place if people don't want to use it? And then everyone bad mouths insurance companies for being gold mines and making record $$$... It' because they sold consumers a product that they are afraid to use. IMO OP it's your call, it should be a cheap fix. Find a cover online, look for used ones via Craigslist or try and repair that one. It sucks but in the grand scheme of things if this is the worst thing that has ever happened to ya.. |

This. I have a $1k deductible. It keeps my insurance costs much lower. We have insurance for expensive accidents not fender benders that will only drive your rates up.

Thank you, a reasonable answer finally.. I have insurance so when I get pulled over by a cop, I don't have to pay a $2500 dollar ticket, I also have insurance because if I hit someone or if they hit me pretty severely, Im covered, not for stuff like a moron who hit my car in the parking lot and didn't have the balls to leave a note (bad karma for him).. If my bumper was angling off my car and my rear quarter was bashed in.. I would definitely use my insurance

You missed the giant dent in the bumper with scrape marks, nothing to do with the taillight and more to do with a bumper cover

Ya I have a lot of other things to worry about in life too, but this added onto it, you know what I'm saying? ITs devastating because I take such good care of my car, hand wash it once a week, detail every 3-4 months, etc etccc

This is just like the answer to health insurance. People want something else to pay for normal life events. Insurance is there for uncommon, significant losses, NOT for less critical and relatively foreseeable activities. Savings and money management are for the latter, added to patience and a tolerance for "life is less than perfect." Expecting insurance to cover occurrences that are unfortunate and maddening, but manageable drives rates up for everyone. Do we really think that only paying $20.00 for 30 minutes of medical service is realistic? "Underwriters are all assholes" ... like all of us they're in the business to make money. They have to make their bottom line. (I am not defending their most despicable behavior). Sh&t comes with life. This bumper damage is really crappy and hurts. Pay for it, leave the deductible @ $1,000 or more. Save the reduced premium for better use. Whew. Rant OFF. |
