Appreciate this thread so much. I'm refreshing a 100k mile e90 and thinking I will go ahead and pull the trigger on this job. Was wondering your thoughts on replacing the Cam sensors while you're in there. Seems like a good idea - though I don't hear others doing it and no reports of failures. |

@Vedubin01
"Once secure this is s a good time to replace your spark plugs. This also has a Torque figure of 23 inch lbs." That was preceding the 6Nm call out. Figured it was a typo is all.

Thanks OP.
How much do you charge for to refinish a set of covers? .

Yes that is correct. I bought the full lot and wound up with 2 extra 11157838369 o-rings after the job.

I ordered Drei Bond through FCP Euro but they sent me BMW Loctite 5970 instead. It also seems to be a RTV sealant. What's the difference between this and Drei Bond and can I use this instead?

I checked realoem and it should be: x12 11417526315 torx screws (4 for each oil separator = total of 8, 1 for each camshaft position sensor = total of 4) And only x2 instead of x4 for the bigger oil separator seal 11157838369

I just need 24 of either one right? Thanks to everyone who contributed! The price has gone up a LOT at FCP. It's $665 with 12 Torx screws BMW-11417526315 as recommended above. If it's ok to re-use the screws, I'd just reuse my old ones. Are they really one and done? We're not talking rod bearings here. .

BMW-11417526315 is the cam sensor bolt. You only need 4, not 12.
Not recommended to re-use the valve cover bolts. They have a rubber grommet that hardens with age and can leak oil. |
