For those of you who would consider this for over $170,000 US, is it worth it? I can see maybe as a collector's / track use only item, perhaps...

Supercharging brings out the GTS in your car! Jokes aside, I really think this is a nice car for the track junkie! Day to day, comfort and a nice interior still takes my worries away

I'd only get the brakes for my car. And no A/C? Guess it'll be just a winter track car .
Curious about exact engine changes. When are we going to know? |

Than the GT3 RS, which has no sound insulation. If you want an absolutely raw experience, that, or a Viper ACR are clearly the ticket. But to dismiss this car based on paper specs and declare it no match for a regular GT3 is incredibly premature. Porsche states the GT3 will do 7:40. Sport Auto tested a regular GT3 got exactly that. BMW states this car will also do 7:40. It should be a pretty close match.

While retaining the same 8500 rpm redline, it will have a much wider torque curve and produce more peak torque overall than the GT3 that will be much peaky in nature. That is the advantage M3 GTS has and it will also not be as strung out as the GT3 engine is since the GT3 really delivers most of its power above 6000 rpm. I am sure M3 GTS can get easily another 50 - 60 HP out to the tune of 500 - 510 HP.

I'm not wanting to play down this engine but it's only matching what the RS5 will have and needing an extra 200cc to do it. South and myself have been discussing whether it's got DI as some reports state but if it does (which I doubt) then this is a seriously under performing engine because based on what I know a DI with it's displacement and peak revs would comfortably develop 490-500hp no sweat.

Does it still rev to 8400? Still only making 25? I'm not sure I understand BMWs logic here, after ditching the CSL for the purpose of changing directions or w/e and the economy.. and then going and making the x5/6m, and now this. It seems doubtful we'll see this in America, too
