How is that possible, the lighter socket under the armrest doesn't charge/power up, unless the engine is running ?

Sorta true, my tune2air is plugged in there 24/7 and doesn’t come on unless acc is on at least. Doesn’t the car cut the accessory power after a short amount of time

If you are just driving on the street, then none. Wait until it reaches the bottom arrow and there will be an iDrive notification to add 1 liter of oil.

If you are trying to do a track day or something, then you can add maybe .3 or .4 liters then re-check, then add more in .1 liter increments.

In either situation, it would be much better to be .2 liters low than even .1 over.

Ate a late fathers day dinner with the family, snapped a nice sunset picture and took the long way home. Perfect end to a great day.

Semantics, semantics

You are correct though, and I used to worry about it, but what I started doing is continuing to drive about 100 miles past the warning and fill up with the whole liter bottle and it works out perfect.

Wasn’t trying to sound like a dick, but some people get nutty with the oil level and panic when the 1qt warning goes off. If he dumps a whole liter in he might over fill that’s the only reason I pointed it out

Smile

Took her on a 80 mile drive along the back roads and pushed her pretty hard. Long flat road no cars and no 5-0. 65-12 in just a few of the best sounding seconds of my life. I just recently got the car and I am absolutely in love with her.

Do tell. Where did you power it from? And your mount? I have MirrorTaps, BlendMount and a Uniden R3 ready to go on Saturday. Always eager to learn from experiences of others.

Replaced my shredded stock plastic and felt parts with deansbimmer's aluminum undertray. Brilliant solution!

I used this thread as a guide: Hardwiring Your Radar Detector ***DIY*** https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136245

Power comes from the green/white wire on the second bank from the drivers side as described in the thread. The only thing I did differently was to use the Valentine 1 wire tap that comes with the OEM hardwire kit (no solder). Hardest part for me was accessing the 10mm bolt for the ground wire. I'm using the original windshield mount with suction cups.

I hate the sensor so much, mine was reading at that, then I reset it to make sure and it went back to half way mark

I've always poured in the full "liter" never had an issue. Realistically we're never getting a full liter anyways due to all the oil left behind unless you wanna stand there for an hour and letting it drip out
