Track: Calabogie Motorsports Park, April 27-28, 2013
Best lap time: 02:27.58 Brakes: Stock + OEM Pads Tires (Size & Model): Michelin PSS 245/40/19, 295/35/19 Suspension: Stock Other Mods: None Alright, i'll bite, here's my best session from my last trip to Calabogie. I love this track, even more than the Glen or Mosport. My theoretical best time was a 2:25.68 based on this session, so there's still room to improve. You'll have to ignore the gear select in the video. I was playing with the OBDII protocol for the 991 on the SmartyCam, and I didn't do the gear select learning (normally I run CAN Bus, so it isn't an issue). Oh, and if you think the V8 sounds weird, don't worry. It's acutally a flat-six. And yes, I know that's cheating Will be back up at CMP on June 22, and July 6-7 at the very least. Nice! I still have tons of room to improve, but I really love his track! Going to The Glen and Mosport for he first time this year, so I'll have more to compare with by the end of the season. |

How were the rs19s for you? Can't remember If you had run them before or this was your first time with them.

The RS19's are working out great. Big difference from the Hawk HP+ that I had before. Less initial bite but very smooth and consistent. And they are pretty quiet on the street too! |

I was there on the 27th too! Dodging all those open wheel cars that were there. I was the Red 991 (I know there were a few red 997 there as well). We must have seen each other at some point, I remember seeing a dark coloured E9x M3 parking alongside a few other cars.

Here's a video from back in 08' with a crappy Sony camera mounted on the windshield. That is how I want my videos to sound like, but kinda hard in the States when you have to drive with your windows down!! Maybe put the mic in an empty glove box? I'll be back in the States in January 14' at the earliest but I might extend for another year depending on how things go. Definitely missing the M3, they have a few tracks here too but my hooptie would probably blow up if I try to run it there. |

Went to Sonoma Raceway (Infineon) for the first time. Phew! What a mind job! Walls, billboards, blind hills/curves, off-cambers, hairpins! And that doesn't even include the rattlesnakes and deer that were on the track!
E90 M3 Track/course: Sonoma Raceway (Infineon) Best Lap Time: 1:54.15 (transponder) Brakes: AP Racing - Cobalt Friction XR2 front/XR3 rear Tires: Hankook TD - 295/30/18 square on Apex Arc-8 10.5" Suspension: JRZ RS Pro Other mods: VF620, MS track pipes, (no aero parts) I know of at least 4 cars that were in wrecks: a Miata hit the wall in Turn 11, a CTS-V hit the wall in Turn 2, and a Ferrari and Porsche crashed into each other after the Ferrari spun in Turn 2 and the Porsche hit him.....I'm telling ya, that track eats cars..... My GoPro caught a live rattlesnake on the track.......sadly, it didn't stay alive for long.....I didn't hit it when it was alive! Here's video of the lap. Anyway, this was my first time at a track in NorCal. Very nice facility, and they have a Wednesday Drags and Drift night every week. $25 and you can go drift and drag race until like 10PM. That was fun to watch. How awesome is that?? Last edited by dogbone; 05-26-2013 at 09:22 AM.. |

^ That's nuts. I thought i'd seen everything at the track - turtles, turkey, deer, a frog that got fried in a wheel. But this takes the cake! |

The next day a deer came on track. They stopped the session obviously for that to deal with it. Boy, Sonoma Raceway sure has it all!----tough, car eating course and wildlife. |

^ ^ ^ ^ good to see you again Gabe. Can't believe how fast you were going in the heat. I did ok in the morning but not so hot (pun intended) in the afternoon.
E92 M3 Track/course: Willow Springs - Big Willow Best Lap Time: 1:38.1 (VBox) Brakes: ST BBK with street pads Tires: stock 19" wheels with 300 treadwear street tires lol Suspension: stock ZCP Other mods: ESS VT2 625 The time above was done in session 2 with my temp guage at 85 deg F sliding somewhat as the track felt a bit slippery compared to previous times. In the afternoon I was sliding all over the place. My 300 treadwear Michelins were melting in the 97 deg heat and turned into balls of grease. I was doing by best and turning mid-high 1:40's in those conditions. It was so bad that my rear tires were spinning the entire time so the car was freaking out and thought it was back on the dyno so the ABS system and DSC system turned themselves off! I couldn't even keep up with what looked like a stock 4 door M3 and stock 335i 4 door M sport lol. Just shows that tires make a huge difference, particularly in extreme conditions. I learned a valuable lesson and won't ever go back without a dedicated set of wheels/tires. Here's what happened in my warm down lap.

You may have answered this a bunch of times, so excuse my ignorance. How did you fit 10.5 with 295 in the fronts? Camber? Fender roll/pull? Looks like it has awesome balance out there with that setup. Thanks Quote:
