Yep. Basically watching John Hughes films represents many of the pop songs of that era. Simple Minds is a good example.

This one takes me back. It was one of my favourites back in the (dare I say it) seventies.
I saw Elton John in Toronto in 2019 the night after his mother in-law passed away. He postponed the tour after that show. He talked for about five minutes about how much music and family meant to him and that he needed to spend more time with his children. I don't think there was a dry eye in the whole stadium.
