Bimmerworld race catback

Well the other day I said I was waiting for some parts and well the parts have come in. Two days ago with the help of my friend we put on the bimmerworld race catback exhaust. Initial thoughts: just enough to not annoy me (loud exhaust DD annoys me) for the price and weight savings 30lbs you cannot beat it, the two tips on the back looks clean. Looking forward to posting some sound clips. This weekend goes on the swift springs,e36 bump stops, and ground control camber plates.

So just so everyone is aware, although you sign up for Bimmer Challenge when registering, that is just for the website to show who is signed up. We need you to fill out the competition form at the track and turn it in when checking in to be included. You will also obviously need to be signed up to get timing from Speed Ventures for the day to be included. Can't wait, should be a good, fun turnout!

One thing I noticed is that kw clubsport information listed everywhere is that their rear springs are 800lbs. But it's 120nmm which is actually around a 675lb spring.

What in the world?

Having a great time at the track today but my PFC08's are fading on me at the end of each session ... might PFC01's fix this? Just put in fresh Motul 660 two days ago fwiw. Kind of wishing I just went for the Stoptech ST60 BBK instead of ST40 right now.

has anyone done the front control arm monobal conversion just by its self? i'm curious how noticeable of a difference it would be to do this one thing alone. i have a slight intermittent shimmy from the steering wheel and i'm thinking my bushings are worn.

Roast beef as Laguna is my home track I am
Going to try it out here on the 20 and 21. My initial thought is yes as the loudest the exhaust is at 2k RPM. More to follow.

you're going to love the camber plates! the difference is night and day. lots more turn-in and balances out the car.
it has saved me a few times when i made mistakes by maybe not braking enough and/or getting on the throttle too soon. i was able to let off the gas and get more turn-in to stay on pavement without using the brakes and risk upsetting the car mid-corner.

Do you have st40 front and rear or just front? I am not familiar enough with PFC pads to know if they have a different thermal capacity or not. But I am curious to see if you find a solution. When buying a BBk one should consider not only braking power and consistency but you are also buy a bigger/better thermal sink. This gives you a higher operating ceiling. Therefore a larger BBk "should" allow longer pad life. You want to not only look at rotor diameter but also thickness. I knew a ST40 would not be enough so it was ST60 for me. Just the front BBK has worked out great so far. FYI The rear hasn't been needed for those that want to save money.

My current setup is ST40 front only, rears are OEM with Stoptech street performance pads and they look totally fine. I actually had Stoptech 380mm STR-60 Trophy calipers on my last car and perhaps that spoiled me a bit. Heavier car and zero issues, that setup never once faded on me (even on a 100 degree day). To be fair I was also running different pads, Pagid RS-29's, and narrower but still fairly grippy tires (Cup 2's).

So in my third and fourth sessions yesterday I was on the brakes less and pretty much prevented pad fade but my times were also a few seconds off my fastest pace.

At this point rather than selling my ST-40's and buying the larger ST-60 setup I think I will try PFC-01's first and then decide. After talking to some other folks with heavier cars that run PFC01's, I think this should work. I have heard they do wear faster and wear through rotors faster as well, but on the flip side they should be a little higher torque also, which I think I would appreciate. I've also considered going Pagid RS-29's again but I really love the ease of bedding with the PFC's and am ready for something more aggressive anyway.

Will keep folks posted, not sure when my next outing is yet but I am hoping to squeeze one more track day in before the summer heat hits.
