One important thing to note with the HK setup or the individual setup is MOST goes directly to the AMP vs the hi-fi system where the head unit takes the most signal and then sends it as an analog signal over copper to the amp.
In short- completely different story for MOST, which may be relevant considering that MOST is the whole point of the MR12Volt system. To be clear, I have the hi-fi system, but others with individual audio I believe has reported it as well. Not much info on HK as the M3 (at least in the US) was never offered with that system- and we are on the m3 board here vs just the regular e9x board. |

I don't think any of that matters, since the source audio is coming from the 12volt unit and the connection between the HU and amp shouldn't matter as the source signal should be the same. HiFi is often considered better if you plan to upgrade and add aftermarket amp(s), the HiFi coded HU sends a Differential-Balanced signal that can be used to go directly into an amp that accepts that type of input (not all do, JL is a popular one that does). If there you can upgrade speakers and sub to get a much better system than the stock EPS/L7/HK.

While yes, the source is the same, the hardware doing the digital to analog conversion is completely different (head unit vs amp) and thus it's an important variable to consider.

If where the conversion mattered or was being treated differently, there would be the same issue when using a CD Changer.

Doesn't really seem to be many people out there who retrofitted a cd changer into the CIC system. |

Thank you for posting those icons and the information. Very helpful! I was sure I read somewhere you could alter the standard boot screen for a BMW based one of some description. I'll be installing mine week after next so it will be interesting to see how it all goes! |

Hi all, looked into these a few months back but was put off by the bass issues. Now looking at their website there's another P2000, this time grey / black and rounded as opposed to the squared off blue one. Is the black one a newer version and have the bass issue been fixed? Can't see any difference between the two spec wise.

I used a 32gb microSD from microcenter with no issues. I believe I got it for free with a coupon. Maybe Mr12Volt customer support or a member here can help.

Bass issue is still present, as there is no difference in hardware. The fact you have to adjust anything to try and mitigate the bass issue means it's still there, as any eq adjustments are system wide, and you've now thrown the entire system out of whack. EQ adjustments will not correctly fix it, as the data just isn't there in the first place. |

I just finished installing V1 unit to friend's car. Start to finish was 2 hours 15 minutes. As many have stated, I had to code. I knew we had power to the Mr12Volt unit by plugging in an iPhone to the USB dongle and the phone immediately showed it was charging and asked if we wanted to use CarPlay. I then used bimmer-code with an MDlinx+ OBD unit.
Headunit -> Expert Mode -> 3000 HMI Find CDMM_CHANGER_3 option and change it to mp3_cdc CODE -> START CODING Screen popped up after coding and now just a matter of getting familiar with the UI. Bass Sound Issue: I'm a vet with some hearing loss so the sound was good to my ears. My friend was very pleased with the sound to include the bass. I submit that what others have said regarding Bass are valid issues.. I'm not in a position to say as someone with less than perfect hearing but, I'm pleased to have CarPlay. I wonder, would anyone say that bass considered, its better than an AUX plug CarPlay solution? |

Apparently there's a new DSP that solves the issues - if they're telling the truth then I might pull the trigger on one soon |

That isn't what they were saying before... They made the 6-12 month comment for a new version that fixes the bass issue after the p2000 light was already out.
Unless there is a new product revision of the p2000 light that solves the issues, but I really feel like they would have said something. I'm not entirely sure I'd trust them on that response. Let me ping them. |

One thing I will say is you are inquiring about the CCC version of the P2000 light which wasnt out yet when they made those comments- so it is possible they changed something. Again- let me get more details.
Looking at the site the p2000 light for CCC is still in the pre order status- so that does raise the possibility of a hardware revision since it isn't out yet and wasn't a thing when I talked to them last. Last edited by drwankel; 01-21-2022 at 11:51 AM.. |

I got a response back from mr12volt
"New processor and DSP only available in the next version, which will be release in Q2 Q3 2022" So no, the P2000 lite does not have the fix in any capacity. Looking at the screenshot in question- I think what they mean is the issue is resolved by a new processor and DSP, they didnt say that was in the p2000 lite. Mr12volt is based out of Hong Kong- so there is likely communication challenges and they probably weren't clear enough in the screenshot as English likely isn't their first language. |

Another succesful install
Just a quick post to thank everyone here.
I purchased a MR12VOLT unit back in November and received it last week. Reading this thread made the install super easy! I have a E82 135i 6MT with the HK sound system, bluetooth, USB, Combox and Pro Nav. (609, 620, 644, 688, 6FL, 6VC) I did not need to code for the unit to work and I have not noticed a difference in bass when comparing between native bluetooth, iPod through USB, and MR12Volt. Although I must say that, as good as the HK sound system is, it needs some pretty drastic EQ settings to sound good anyway. Only issue I'm having is that the PDC display doesn't come up when I reverse (or press the PDC button) unless I back out of Mr12V and press the PDC button again. I have also ordered the GreenYi camera recommended here and will be tackling that next (looks to be a major pain with manual cars). Wish me luck. Thansk again for all the great info in this thread! |
