About to buy a set of square set of apex EC7s (18x10) and then also ECF tires (275/35/18) My e92 m3 is stock besides camber plates and track pads.
But got a couple questions related to the ECF tires on my e92 m3: 1. I have adjustable camber plates; What camber should I be targeting? 2. These ECF tires will be my first set of stickier tires (previously 12 track days I've used MPSS tires). Anything I should know about heat cycling; specifically the first session? On my ATS-V, I've run ECFs at -2.0 front and -3.0 front. IMO, -2.5 to -3.0 is probably optimal.
On my two sets of ECFs, I haven't worried about heat cycling them, simply SENT IT on sticker tires. First set got 32 sessions (many of which were 30 minutes long) before being removed for spares and they still have a lot of tread left on them. ECFs will heat cycle out before they cord. I start each session at no lower than 30psi cold...tire is very happy TO ME at 35psi hot. |

This front 265/35/19 ADO8R is done.
It spent all its life doing laps at Watkins Glen International. As you can see it still has treads. WGI is not hard on tires. But it is no longer fast. The outside developed a shiny band that I am guessing is due to heat. It is from last year and served me well. |

2:09 vs 2:06.
Was in climate control all winter. Than 1.5 days two weeks ago. Yes, it can go much longer on 2:10-2:13 pace. But I am a man on a mission with basement full of sticker tires. got to make room for Corsa 285/30/19 60tw tires. |

It did not come very nicely off the wheel, I should have taken a picuture. When the machine took it off, some rubber serparated from the inside edge. I don’t think it was re-usable. Kind of weird. Have not see that before.

Looking at Grass Roots Motorsports 200tw ratings and the Michelin PS4S has a ‘AAA’ wet rating while the Bridgestone RE71RS has an A rating. I assume these are absolute ratings, but please correct me if I’m mistaken. I was between running my worn RE71RS (about 4/32 or a bit less) and less worn PS4S (6/32 or so) and chose the Bridgestone hoping the rain would hold off but alas that didn’t end up being the case. For the future, would it be fair to say that I would have been faster with the PS4S? Or is it a relative scale and the Bridgestone would have been faster regardless.

It might depend on what kind of wet you're dealing with. AFAIK, the RE-71R (not the RS) was better on damp asphalt but the PS4S has much better hydroplaning resistance.
Exactly. 200tw tires will be faster as long as there is no standing water or actully raining hard. The softer rubber is still better even in the wet. In light drizzling with an RT660 and Corsa Asym 60tw was almost as fast as dry. |

Thanks, it was more than a drizzle (this past Saturday at Lime Rock, the outer bands of the hurricane). There wasn’t standing water but the track was more than slightly damp. We did get a bit of drying out towards the middle of the day which was interesting to dry on a track in truly changeable conditions where one part had a dry(ish) line and other parts were still very much wet. Appreciate the feedback.

This Corsa Asym 60tw 305/30/19 2020 rear tire has been with me since October last year. I really like it and I used it 2.5 days at WGI, 1.5 days at WGI this year, LRP 55 laps and now heading to WGI.
First, I wanted to mount a new one but then a resisted the urge and decided to use it until done. I found someone that can bring my two rear from my FI set and I can cary the two front. I mounted the better one on the driver side, and the slightly more used up on the passenger side. WGI is easy in tires but I think it consume slightly more the driver side. P = Passenger D = Driver . |

That AD08R is believably done. They DO heatcycle out and are definitely not good down to cords. At a local track which is very porous and abrasive, combined with the weather, it is not uncommon to get release mould oils along with that bluing coming up to the surface within a 15min session with a couple days on them especially (ie x days, 4-5 sessions each day of 15min each) At this point, the peak is pretty much gone. Back when WTAC used to run them in clubsprint class, it was common knowledge esp cars with moderate downforce levels would suck the life out of them. Whoever was buying takeoffs after the event were left scratching their head where the pace went, lol.
Same story with RS4. They are only an endurance tyre if you literally do an endurance stint without inducing heatcycles in between. I used to junk AD08Rs around 50% tread including a flip in between.

Is this normal "patina" for track tires, or did i overheat/heat cycle these guys out? Advan Apex V601 280TW, came with the car. this is after 5 track days + probably a couple thousand street miles.
i was coming off the track at ~41 front / 42 rear and taking 2 lbs out between sessions. running too high?

I also think you can have dropped a few PSI on there also.. I try to get the tire line right to the Triangle.. That's really when you know your PSI is correct (atleast thats what I've been told)

The triangle only points to where the wear bars are. It's not a target for how far toward the sidewall the wear should go
