Every time I see (or hear!) it on the channel, I start all over thinking "Huh, I should look for one of those", and then Sreten goes through the litany of woes with fixing and then maintaining it and I return to "Hell, no!" <grin>

It's fabulous, though.

Part 7 of Project Frankfurt (E92 M3) is now available.

Being a patreon member, I have already watched it and what an amazing video it is. The detail (and result) is incredible!

Well done Sreten!

Tiny thing, and probably makes no significant difference; setting digital scales to measure ml is probably just the same as measuring g, but with a different unit displayed. So only accurate if you're measuring water, or something else with equal density. No idea how pag oil density compares with water, but I'd guess it's lower, therefore the scales will result in excess oil.

What do you think the “secret mod” he mentioned was in addition to pistons and cams?

I was reading TIS last night and ran into that nice Hazet angle gauge in the special tools tab. It's actually in the parts catalog. 83-30-0-490-504. That is my Christmas present to myself this year. I also sent my snap-on 1/2" one out to be calibrated. I finally figured out for the special tools you just prefix them with 8330.

Glad it started up and seems good so far

83-30-0-495-104 Extractor

^^ No scotch brite or anything in the engine. That was the nice block scraper in the video with the alusil shop, I forgot the name.

Decat or similar. He mentioned that the secondary O2 sensors were irrelevant, so I bet he's deleting the cats and having the secondary o2s mapped out

I've been watching this guy since he started. His sense of humor always entertains me. In every video he has posted I've learned something new that I didn't know before, when I thought I knew everything there was to know on BMW engines. I wish he posted more videos.

An update on the E60 M5 and E39 M5 which sadly, broke down.

Whats a sound the E60 M5 now makes!

Great episode as always, nice to have two back to back so quickly. I won't spoil the video, but I'm going on the record as saying anyone that thinks the E60 M5 isn't miles better than the car it replaced is delusional. What a car.

Vilified due to the silly rod bearings... How good would the S65 and S85 be if it wasn't for the crappy factory bearings/clearances??

Related to Project Raleigh - Heel and Toe recently borrowed Sreten's E60 M5 (before he made the most recent modifications) which you can see here, including a small interview with Sreten.

Agree. I think the rod bearing issue is really overblown though. Yes it's a thing, just do them when you should and all is well. No one complains about rod bearings on S54s, but that's just as much of a thing as these other M engines.

None, wheel weights are no longer made of lead for environmental reasons.
