here's my honest opinion. you don't get it cause you don't know a lot about your car YET.
and speaking "nerd car" is something i do cause i WANTED to learn about cars. I call myself an enthusiast cause i like learning about cars... i like talking about cars, how they work, what makes them gain more power, what improves the suspension, what is out there to be done, what has yet to be done etc... Speaking only for us that i know for sure but... Jamie and i both have history with cars. a lot of experience. We've gone through different types of cars. we've been modding but we're both still learning and we love it. Only from what i've noticed and read: Riz, it doesnt seem like you want to learn about cars. you're so closed minded about the car you wanted to get that you wouldn't open your mind to other cars. cars that were possibly better and could gain you the power you wanted and been even faster. Adam and Wes on the other hand do their research, call the people they want to talk to, post on the other boards or at least lurk and learn. That's what i'm hoping to see out of you one day Riz. Take the time... learn your car. You don't know you can handle 400whp and 400+ ft/lbs of torque unless you've done it and almost died by it.

I saw don't mod the performance until a couple of months
I did it slow on my 335i. a month after i got a Jb+ at 50%. then took it up to 75% then went to a JB3 a couple months down. then added DPs. then FMIC. then up the boost. it wasn't until 8 months later that I broke the 400 mark and even then I almost never used it I drove around on low boost (13) most of the time, making prly around 370? When I wanted to be an idiot and do racing I raised the boost to map 7 with mix of 100 octane to run 400+ (i think boost was 16, 17 for it?) When I did 450 on a dynojet, I was running straight 100 octane, no mix, and I ran 18 PSI. but I would never daily it like that. unsafe. the max PSI I ran on the street was about 16 (or whatever map 7 was back then) Do some cosmetics to it. then little performance here and there

Agreed with the above. ^^^
It's important to learn about your car. When you're ignorant about something, nobody is going to take you seriously. I think it goes without saying that BMW has one of the, if not, the biggest following of any car company. For the most part, the owners are very knowledgable about their cars (i.e., real enthusiasts). By talking about all sorts of mods and getting XXX amount of horsepower without even knowing how the mods are improving your car's performance, people will think you are a tool. Since we know you, we know that you're not, but others might not feel the same way. |

Well I blame myself, he was talking about wanting exhaust and I started talking about power #'s and he later was just referencing the numbers I posted...
Jason & Shy, I absolutely agree with what you're saying, I got JB4 first just because I was reading & learning about the N54 and the JB+, JB2, JB2HR, JB3, JB4 and the 335i for literally more than year before i even bought the car. What I have come to realize is I actually drive less aggressively now than I did before, with less power, go figure, maybe its an age thing.. Wes, in my humble opinion, 1% or less of BMW owners are real enthusiasts, its a brand thing to 99%+, and even of that 1%, they may not be very knowledgeable, but they are hungry for knowledge, that's where I am... learning to control torque steer and wheel slippage at high speeds takes time and practice. Just like Warren, he practices all the time so he can get that perfect reaction, launch, amount of wheel slippage at the track... so he can break his old records and keep people wanting to fix up their 335s. i agree with your point about 1%... definitely true! That's why i kick it with MFEST so much. It's about cars, friends, food, camaraderie. not just BMWs, even though 98% of them own BMWs or were a BMW owner at one point. Stay hungry... keep modding. As an enthusiast, warranty goes right out the window hahaha. When you lose that hunger, you step up the game to bigger and better. Me as an example... Integra (Nitrous, P&P, Cams), 88 Civic (LSVTEC fully built), 95 civic (2L LSVTEC fully built), 03 Evolution (Full suspension, boost controller and 20psi), M3 (SC and still going!)... Where will it end? who knows!

Yea, you're probably right. I guess I see the people on the forums and assume that most owners are like that.

Good point by Jason. Thats what the forum is for. Dont just log in to see NSFW picture thread guys!! (i love that thread btw ) so much to learn about cars that u love to drive. So many knowledgeable people its not even funny. Mod slowly, especially performance mod, that way you get used to the new found power before you go to the next level. |

dangerous in a straight line? i think your over reacting. when no one is in front me of me or around me?
when jamie is slidding around the corners. sorry Jamie. i wanted the JB4 and Downpipes with an Exhaust for the sound effect. i really dont even car about the numbers. that just comes a long with the mods. im the type of person that cares about sound, and look of the car. not the speed obvs. i bought a N55 not a N54. and i do know a shit load about Jb4 ive been on that website 3 months before this one. went out to Famoso with Warren and Terry. like i said man the power out put and speed doesnt really matter to me. edit: and for the car thing: close minded? okay, well test drove all of these, the Camaro 2ss - cant see out the damn window. Mustang 5.0 - car is fast, interior sucked, and handled not that great. Audi A5- looks great just, i just dont really like audi for some reason. Evo, Lancer, etc. i just dont like JDM kinda stuff. not that they are bad cars lets just say they are "too flashy" 535i looks great, nice interior, but just didnt want to pay the money for that car. Overall i am happy about my decision. i like the 1 series too, but it was too small for me. Last edited by theriz; 07-21-2011 at 12:41 PM.. |
