Just signed up for timed laps at the BMW Performance Center on Dec 9. This will be my first timed event going up against other people. Exciting!!
This is especially awesome because I thought I was done going to the track for the season. Apparently, I am not ![]() Last edited by DreamTime; 11-11-2017 at 08:04 PM.. |

Still figuring out the track, a little mud in some spots, but not too bad. Track is warming up. Dropped two at turn 10, but straightened it out and all is good.
1:59:959 is my best so far. Just had a hotdog, so maybe that will help.

Best time of the day ended up being in my last session. I guess it was the hotdog, Red Bull, and 1/2 can of pringles I had for lunch! Ran a 1:57:117.
Sonoma is a fun track once you get into the groove. I never got turn two down...

They forum guy making the aluminum ones is selling them for $400 plus shipping and they're not formed in the vertical 3rd dimension like these. I actually bought one out of the first batch, but to me the metal is too thick. A desirable quality if it weren't for the fact that it makes it decently heavy (15-20 lbs?) and I don't feel comfortable having that much weight hanging on a plastic front bumper with the only real solid mounting points being the 3 bolts going into the metal plate surrounding the central jacking point. Another small qualm is that the "fang" cutouts are too deep and leave about a 2 inch gap from the edge of that part of the bumper which makes me slightly worried about air coming up in there. Although if you have the competition splitters or a full front lip, it WILL cover/negate that gap. And I'm not trying to slam the design/designer, it just doesn't work for me personally. It's still a very nice quality made piece. So all that said, I dropped my piece off at a metal fab company a few days ago, and they are quoting me on making one about half as thick and modifying the cutouts to be more shallow. If the price is right I'll go through with that and post pics back here - if not, I might go with the Turner one. It looks to be similar in thickness to the forum one, but theirs is divided into several pieces to spread the weight out. |

I would be very afraid to run that piece. One bad off and I don't think it would break off gently. I think it could do some major damage to vital pieces, e.g., radiator, oil cooler, etc., etc.

since more guys are in here - i posted in the aero thread. basically 61 vs 67. Dogbone runs 67 without much angle of attack and needs to match with his front set up. I'm just running gt4 lip with apr splitter (won't add much more length, maybe 1.5" at best). I just don't want to unbalance the car.
I guess will the 61" just be a glorified GTS wing sitting up high? LOL GT-250...

After the sun went down, the ambient temperature dropped significantly, and the track was still warm. Plus, I got some good vitamins from that hotdog and Red Bull. XD

Almost forgot to mention, I tried some new racing pads Sunday, and I'm in love.
Thanks dogbone for the recommendation! I'm now using cobalt friction xr1's up front. Great bite, great torque, and I don't have to go way into the pedal to get it. I was impressed with these pads, and I'm a fan. They are easy to jab in the shorter braking zones without activating abs. These pads are supposed to be easier on the rotors than my previous dsUNO pads. The owner Andie is very generous with his time in the way he talks to you about your specific setup. I'm impressed with the service and the pads!
