It's not turn in thou. Slower speeds are fine it's just high speed turns/sweepers like WSIR turn 2 and 9. When holding a steady speed around a long sweeper there is too much understeer.

They are stock. Are they even adjustable? It's a good idea just don't think they have adjustments

I'm thinking after coilovers (soon), to pair the GT-250 with the Bimmerworld Front Splitter (http://store.bimmerworld.com/bimmerw...ray-p1861.aspx) and the Whiskers (http://store.bimmerworld.com/carbon-...-m3-p1887.aspx) to balance things out.

You'd be far better off with a splitter and good flat bottom lip. You'll get better performance out of it and its a less expensive set up so breaking them isn't quite as painful.

Stock aren't. RDSport makes a good set of adjustable aftermarket bars. Same ones Cody and I run. You'll need adjustable front endlinks to make them fit right though.

Higher speeds are where the wing is really making a difference. Its completely understandable that you would have a bit of push up front at over 100mph. How far does your splitter extend in front of the bumper? Dive planes and a slight change to the front camber/toe would help remedy that as well. Adjustable sway bars are a good move too if you want to be able to dial them in for different tracks.

I'm always in for more affordable functional options.

Would you go with a more draggy wing if the car was supercharged? Or stay with the 250 in all cases of an E9x M3?

From what I've seen most run the gt250 even supercharged. It give more than enough downforce. If it has less drag the better

Have seen this on some US East Coast racers:

http://aeromotions.com/products/by-c...-3-series-e92/

The claimed benefit from them is a good drag to downforce trade.

Looks like it comes out 5 or 6 inches. Prob 3 inches past the gt4 rep lip

Kosher: pic of your wing? AOA is relative to airflow which on a big greenhoused sedan like an M3 is most likely flowing down and not parallel to the ground. Most likely your zero so is still a few degrees positive. Even if a wing is at a negative (nose up) AOA, it'll still make down force.

Also try taking out some F rebound

Stick to 250 even if it's supercharged. In NA form it could almost present too much drag sometimes depending on AOT.

GTC-250 without a doubt. I love it so much I even drive around liek a jackass on the streets with it, probably why my car got keyed..

Anywho.. I'm 100% with KosherStogie. We're running the same set up. APR front and rear.

Car feels like a fucking beast, anyone that sits in the car can completely agree.

Regarding the understeer, I threw in some extra camber upfront and changing to NT01 tires. Will let you guys know how it goes on Tuesday.

If anyone in California wants to come, Stogie and I will be there. I'm sure a few others from this forum will be there also. I don't think even 20 cars will be there, great day to have some fun!

Josh

So for all u guys with the gt250, I assume you are all running the 67" version?

Anyone here has the 61"? Are both pedestal heights the same?

If you look at the airflow from the roof of the car, the air is coming off the roof at ~7-10* at roof height and ~15* closer to the trunk lid. Even though your wing has zero AOA relative to the ground, the true AOA is much higher. (and when people put their M3's wings at 15* AOA, its probably closer to 30 and stalling:

I would continue to take angle out of the wing until the car is more neutral and balanced. If you have the 67" span wing, it is extremely wide and powerful and does not need a ton of AOA.

Billy!!!! I love you right now. I didn't think I could take anymore wing out and was getting frustrated as I love a little oversteer, I mean at least be neutral and let me induce into oversteer. Understeering around tracks like WSIR is just boring and the car was just plowing ;( I was getting bored and upset. This gives me hope. Thank you sir!

OP you are so lucky to be able to run at Sepang. What a great circuit...

Any of you guys running a wing on track that you remove for street? Or swapping trunk lids? Really want to get some rear aero but I'm not a fan of the looks on the street--my car is DD.

Yeah. Sepang's a great track unfortunately it's also one of only 2 tracks that we have access to over here.

I will not be running the wing on the street as my M3 is also my daily. I've emailed APR directly and awaiting their reply on which wing they think will be best suited for my purpose.

^the wing is removable. I have it. I leave it on and drive around like an asshole but another gentleman in SoCal removes it for dd and puts it on for track. You leave the base in and unbolt the wing stand

Most of the guys are running a 61". Our car is a 67" because we'll have more front aero in the near future. An e9xM3 with a standard splitter should go with a 61", 67 is excessive and will exacerbate any understeer issues similar to what Kosher is experiencing.

Swapping trunks, though relatively easy, is a fairly annoying job and gets tiring after a while. Some shops that are more track oriented might be willing to work out a deal with you for storing your second trunk and swapping them out before track days. On the other hand, if you dont mind 8 ~1/4" holes in your trunk, removal of the wing takes less than a minute.
