You must have had a tailwind the whole way. I've gotten close to that on trips up to Los Angeles with no traffic and a steady foot. I do think the computer overestimates mileage by around 2-3 mpg though.

Wait, how can it "overestimate," it's simple math.

I'm with the guy higher up in the thread and try to keep it as low as possible... I watch it and if it gets 16 or above I kind of feel guilty - like I'm driving it like a pu$$y or something.

Haha. Agreed about there being no point in higher mileage. Makes for a boring drive in the M. The computer seems to be off of what I calculate doing the math after multiple fills at the gas station.

Yes the computer is a compulsive liar when it comes to MPG. Every time I fill up, I calculate my mpg using miles driven divided by gallons used and it's ALWAYS 1.5-3 mpg lower than what the computer is showing.

I'm averaging 14-15 MIXED and I don't even drive it that hard which is depressing. Most people say if you buy a M3 the last thing you worry about is MPG or that you can afford the gas if you drive a M3 but SCREW THAT! I'm getting tired of filling up the car every 3 days and it really adds up. I really wish the M3 got around 18-20 mixed, then it will be a perfect car. I still love flooring it though.

I am with you. A less thirsty daily driver is a must. My GTI is good for 28-32 mpg highway.

How folks use the thirsty M3 as a daily commuter confuses me. I guess folks around here are rich..lol

Yeah, $200/mo for gas gets annoying, but when I try to daily drive a more "practical" car I want to kill myself. The new car still gets terrible MPG given the size of the engine, but the improvement over last gen makes it far more livable day to day.

I drove from central OH to Morehead City, NC (coast), and back. I averaged 21.5mpg, and was quite happy with that.

I was as high as 22.8 on my way down, but all the stop and go on the island (Emerald Isle), killed my mileage, so it built back up from 20.x to 21.5.

It's a regular economy car!

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

how bout post that city mpg; I drive ~10-20mi/day and lucky to average 14mpg. I fill up every 5 days. Annoyingly, consumption is worse than my E55 AMG.

Trip from WI to IND for some work. A little over 240 miles averaged 29.5 by the time I got home. Average speed was around 75.
