I'm with the guy higher up in the thread and try to keep it as low as possible... I watch it and if it gets 16 or above I kind of feel guilty - like I'm driving it like a pu$$y or something. |

Haha. Agreed about there being no point in higher mileage. Makes for a boring drive in the M. The computer seems to be off of what I calculate doing the math after multiple fills at the gas station.

I'm averaging 14-15 MIXED and I don't even drive it that hard which is depressing. Most people say if you buy a M3 the last thing you worry about is MPG or that you can afford the gas if you drive a M3 but SCREW THAT! I'm getting tired of filling up the car every 3 days and it really adds up. I really wish the M3 got around 18-20 mixed, then it will be a perfect car. I still love flooring it though.

Yeah, $200/mo for gas gets annoying, but when I try to daily drive a more "practical" car I want to kill myself. The new car still gets terrible MPG given the size of the engine, but the improvement over last gen makes it far more livable day to day.

I drove from central OH to Morehead City, NC (coast), and back. I averaged 21.5mpg, and was quite happy with that.
I was as high as 22.8 on my way down, but all the stop and go on the island (Emerald Isle), killed my mileage, so it built back up from 20.x to 21.5. It's a regular economy car!

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream. - Jeremy Clarkson, discussing the S65 and then S55 M3 engines. |

how bout post that city mpg; I drive ~10-20mi/day and lucky to average 14mpg. I fill up every 5 days. Annoyingly, consumption is worse than my E55 AMG.
