What is the technical difference in the Jspec tune? Is there any minimum fuel requirements? Wondering how much of a difference there is with the valve timing, fuel, timing, afr, etc. Any more feedback on this tune?

It's not a tune, it is factory SW, min requirement of 91octane.

So it works with all factory thresholds just as the US spec 240e? What is the main differences? Is there power level increases or is it better drivability. Trying to determine the key differences and what is actually changed in the Jspec software to achieve the results.

I have done this for many customers, and they are all very happy, it is very responsive, almost makes the car feel lighter. I do not charge anything extra, if you come down for a DME update to lets say 240E, you can opt to update to 240E US, Euro, Chinese (same as Euro,) or Japanese. Hope that helps. |

Alex, how much do you charge for Euro MDM, JSpec 240E and GTS DCT software? Also, are there any other tuning/coding upgrades you offer that might not be widely talked about? PM me. Thanks! BTW I am in Canada.

First we had everyone thinking 240E made more power than previous versions
All that was happening was the adaptions were being reset and the cars were running higher ignition timing..... for a while. This is something we have been testing since these cars were released and flashing was available. We have the ability to analyse all of the maps and compare to different versions. The Japan spec file has the same ignition and AFR targets. It has the exact same knock detection parameters. |

Thanks Sal-that is what I expect from someone actually who is selling or giving this software to people. To know the objective differences and not just a software that feels different. Its SO easy to log data like timing etc, that if I were to offer someone software than I would tell them the objective data points that make it better. Thanks for clearing up. I just could not see bmw designing a tune for euro or japan from an increased power perspective

I was charged with less than $100 for just a 240E coding (I can't remember exactly how much), but you can also get feature coding done too with a-la-carte pricing (Euro MDM, idrive startup warning, 1/8 gas warning, amber-clear turn, door unlock features, etc.) |

Well all this confirmed my observations that the 240E gives you a slight fuel consumption improvement. On highways, I got a bump of 2-3 mpgs after my update. I use to have 70E being a March (or was it April?) 2008 build. It makes sense that leaning out the mixture would create this result.
It's also interesting that someone reported the Japan and Euro 240E didn't pass emissions. I'd like to get to the reasons behind that. I would think at least all 240Es have similar timing, so I don't see why emissions would be effected. I also observed smoother partial throttle & low RPM engagement, and it makes low speed driving in parking lots and traffic much easier. I did not observe any WOT or power delivery differences as some has stated. I attribute all that to butt-dyno differences...or perhaps there were other moving parts like getting Euro DCT coded with the 240E update. It may give the perception of quicker acceleration. Overall, it's the best <$100 I ever spent on this car. Last edited by mdosu; 07-16-2013 at 11:52 AM.. |

I am not here offering a remap, tune, or non OEM Software, I am merely offering this as a option for customers who come for an update, they can do US, Euro, and Japanese if they wish. Euro VS US is different. So when you are saying that I am offering something without a log, or charts, that doesn't apply to me. Last I remember some tuners on here do not even have dyno charts. Japanese software feels much more aggressive, and gives the car a much more light feel, I do not ask any of my customers to leave reviews. I do not even post this as a service I offer, customer was happy, he posted himself. I have yet to flash a customers car with 240E Japanese and they are not shocked, most say it feels like a tune. Longwong, if you are local to Los Angeles, come down, I will flash your car then put it back to US spec. You can be the judge. |
