Roll down all windows remotely?

So I went outside this morning and all my windows were down on the M3 but it was locked. I didn't leave it like that, but sometimes I hit button combos on my remotes when they are in my pocket by accident. Is this even possible or is something else afoot?

If you press and hold unlock on the key fob, it will roll down all the windows. Maybe this happened then you hit lock? Pressing and holding lock won't roll up all the windows unless you have it coded.

Nevermind, just read post below me...auto re-lock is most likely what happened.

You hit the unlock button......now check your iDrive and see if you have the auto re-lock selected. That will be the reason the door was locked. If you unlock the car and don't open a door for a set amount of time (I think it's 90 seconds) the car automatically locks......Phil

Thanks, glad to know it's just my pockets that want to cause havoc and not my normal absentmindedness.

That's what you get for leaving it outside. Next thing you're gonna tell me is that she got a nail in her tire.

TECH, we might have to put a leash on you man...

OP, if it's that much of a problem, you can get it coded to where your FOB key does NOT open any windows at all. Do a search for "code FOB"... you'll find lots of great info.

My e46 was programmed to roll the windows back up when you held the lock button. This was a euro feature, I don't think it was exactly legal in the U.S. for safety reasons... could be wrong.

You can code that on the e9x as well.

I've found sometimes the driver's window rolls itself halfway down when I unlock the car and the passenger's side stays up. Then when I shut the driver's door it rolls itself back up.

Does anyone else's car do this? I don't know if its a fault but it's useful if your parked in a tight space!

one thing you can do is walk up to your door. place your finger on the top "lined" portion of the handle and just hold it there... the doors should lock. the windows should start to roll up as well.

I know this is an old thread, but I had coding done so I can roll up my windows and fold my mirrors by holding lock on the key fob in addition to the CA button the the handle

Not a fault, it's a feature. if you have selective locking (one click driver door, two click passenger door) it turns this off, that's why most people don't see it. It's to aid ingress and egress. My e46 did it, too, if I wanted.

Don't listen to the 'take it to the dealer' crowd.

I experience the same problem, I have not been able to solve it, since it only happens sometimes.

Any advise appreciated
