With that said, I am currently looking for a new car....thinking about a z4 m, audi tt rs, another m3 in 6MT, 2006-2008 carrera s. Any personal opinions as to which one I should go with?
Well, ive never posted here , but i feel i can finally add my .02 cents I just went through this exact process myself. I've had a 05 911 (997) , loved it....just truly unique. I sold it due to the fact it was my second car but when i had to get rid of my pickup, it became impractical due to the fact my goalie equipment couldnt fit Went to a 08 m3 stick...loved it. Unique, fast and practical , room wise at least.

When my lease was up, i truly wanted to get away from stick because traffic in Toronto can convince you of this fairly quickly. SO, went the 'responsible ' route and got the x5 diesel. Awesome ride, but wasnt satisfying my inner desire for the sports car , so off to leasebusters and voila, no more x5.

So, in Toronto there are a few dealerships with the TTRS, and was able to test drive it. One word, awesome. Very different character from other tt's. Could fit my goalie equipment , with the seat down. It was slightly cheaper than the m3. However, to me ...it was still at TT and still somewhat feminine looking, even with the wing and body kit. The main thing for me was the 6mt. I love the stick but in Toronto for me, i cant do it anymore lol.

I picked up a '11 e90 dct and do not regret my decision at all. Ive never had a dct but my 'personal requirements' it fit them perfectly. In the end, you have a tough decision; its just a personal preference issue !

What he said. What are You needs? DD, weekend car, etc. before picking up my E90 this week, I really wanted 911 as I needed 4 seats. Tried to convince wife that 911 Cab was "big" enough as a 2nd family car. She disagreed, hence the E90. Along the way, I drove 911 C2, C2S, C4S, Turbo, Cayman S, Cayman R. My favorite "fun" car was actually the Cayman R. It felt like a go cart for adults. If I could get a weekend car, this would be it.

Test drive the Z4 35is it has the power you are looking for you can always add mods to your liking to get closer to an ///M performance. A Z4 M is nice, however, your selection ends between 2006 to 2008.

Just one warning, if you go for a Z4 stay clear of BMW Style 296 Alloy Wheels they are candidates for cracking.

If you don't need the additional utility of the BMW, by all means get the Porsche. Forget Audi.

Totally agree with the Cayman R comment, just did a Porsche Experience day out in Silverstone about a month ago and drove a whole range of Porsches, the Boxster Spyder and Cayman R were amazing (would personally go the Cayman R)... of course the GT3 RS was even more amazing!

Previously I've had 2 adults in the back of the C2S before and was a real struggle for them to remain comfortable for more than 1 hour in those little cutouts lol

Settled! No more ttrs, saw it in person and despised the feminine looks. And I am looking for a sporty DD, I wouldn't even mind having a rough ride cause I have really learned to appreciate those kinds of things-just gives the car more soul. With that being said, will most likely go with 2006 997 turbo or gt3, or 2008 carrera s

Production of the 997 GT3 began in 2007; 996 GT3s were produced from 2004-2005.

Curiously, Bruce Anderson, the Senior Technical Editor of Porsche Panorama and Technical Editor for Excellence, does not have access to your "facts," ericjay56, when he notes in the September 2011 issue of Excellence that "a new [997] GT3 with 415 bhp was introduced for 2007."

Pete Stout, editor of Excellence, and Johannes van Overbeek, ALMS driver, tested the first 997 GT3 press car--a 2007--and wrote about their experiences with the car in the April 2007 issue of Excellence.

Apparently, others need to "check [their] facts" as well:

I'm glad you wasted your time for this one post, really means alot. I said the gt3 began PRODUCTION in 2006. Stop wasting your time trying to prove me wrong and instead contribute to the actual thread topic, instead of pulling facts of computer sites and trying to wow me

You indicated that you would consider a 2006 997 GT3, ericjay56. I indicated that production for the 997 GT3 began for the 2007 model year. Apparently, then, you are considering a 2007 production year 997 GT3 with a build date in 2006. Of course, you're also considering a 2006 997 Turbo--a car which, following your baffling reasoning, would have to be built in 2006; a 2006 production year 997 Turbo with a 2005 build date is not a car that you would consider.

You're hedging, ericjay56. Your comments concerning the presentation of facts--facts which you claimed needed to be "checked"--as serving as no more than "a waste of time" (you offer that evaluation twice) are contradicted your own admission that the facts (you claim that I "[pulled] facts of [sic] computer sites") confirm the claim that the first production year for the 997 GT3 is 2007.

You're thinking more highly than clearly, ericjay56, and your attempt to rationalize your position is unsatisfactory.

Okay professor, I'll study harder next time. Seriously though, relax. I made a mistake. Instead of helping me decide what car to get the actual topic thread, you went off on some tangent, so thanks for not helping at all. Your fancy vocabulary and annoying quotations/parentheses are not wanted here!

Jesus Christ you're an ass. You started with the attitude and he just proved you wrong and you're still being an ass. Just apologize for being a prick and move on. Your lame attitude is not wanted here.
