1. How much horsepower and torque do XPipes really give?
15whp/15wtq +-5 I'd say 2. Is a tune necessary to deem more power? It's not necessary but it does add a considerable amount of more power. 3. Is secondary cat delete enough or is primary cat delete necessary as well? primary cats -> fabspeed xpipe -> megan racing mufflers + tune. Primary cats are what you need to delete in order to get the benefit out of the tune.

I'm assuming you are using high flow cats as well?

Based on a good deal of research with Dinan, Challenge, Gintani and this forum the consensus is that a full Dyno proven ~30HP is attainable with the right parts and tune. Here is my estimate:
Removal or primary 400CPI cats = 15 Removal of secondary 200CPI cats = 5 Tune = 8 Rear section = 3 While some of these parts may claim individual HP gains higher than the assigned value above, most people know that bolt-on parts are not exactly a sum game. Most times you look at added exhaust flow providing a maximum amount of HP/TQ before reaching diminishing returns. In general, you can delete any one of these and expect to see dyno proven gains commensurate with the value I estimated. Clearly, the primary cat delete and tune are your best investment objectively. Maybe the worst power to dollar investment is the rear section but it dictates sound. Consider the physical order of the restriction in the exhaust. Eliminating only the secondary cats when there is a far more restrictive cat in front of it will yield limited gains. If you do change your x-pipe your sound will change dramatically too. A tune is needed with many options simply to disable the CEL.

Macht Schnell X pipe all cats deleted, Giannoni exhaust, Macht Schnell charge scoops, and Macht Schnell drop in filter, Dinan underside pulley, Dinan DCT tune, ESS ecu tune.
Any ideas at the claimed horsepower with these mods? I have yet dynode it just wondering?¿ ![]() Edit: in case you're wondering the car sounds amazing V8 rumble at idle exotic sound under load and throttle a little drone between 1800-2300 but livable, and too loud for the girlfriend Last edited by ruderegime; 05-11-2017 at 01:13 AM.. |

My results at '17 Bimmerfest 3 Jun 17. I was hoping for 350, and ended up with 382 @ 94 degrees temp which was surprising! Guy ahead of me with ESS kit ran 501, BMP tune only M2 ran 313, and a 335I w/JB4 with other mods was rather disappointed at under 300.
I am running the BPM Stage II tune.
