There are two types of business owners: greedy douche bags that see the next year, not the next 12 years anbd the affects of their decisions on the community in which they exist, and those of us who see the big pic. The owners of the Ring clearly are looking at the short-term view.

There are lots of ways I could make more money, but there is right and wrong, and I like happy customers, employees and history. It has cost me $$$ over the years buying out partners, etc., but something things are more important than money.

Too bad ring owners are totally selling out.

All stay away from the ring, so they go bankrupt asap, and new owners can take over.

How can the Ring be in trouble ? That makes no sense to me...it seems to be a popular tourist attraction, as well as the testing ground for many cars....

Very sad...I would love to drive or even ride there with Sabine....

Sad. I hate how narrow minded owners can screw up such an iconic tradition at the Ring. Total BS. We should start a petition through Avaaz.org to get Sabine back in the game. Imagine if a huge # of BMW fans from around the world show their outrage via a signed petition delivered to the Ring owner's with press ensuing...that would be classic. Viva Sabine! The news about Sabine is a bit sad. But even with her on the team, you had to be really lucky to have her as the driver. She was there about 2 weekends a year and there are 2 taxis.

The really bad news (as stated by others here) are the new owners of the Ring. In short, they are hotel chain owners who planned to use the Ring to push their hotel business. Now as that didn't work out and the Ring itself is the only thing that actually makes money, they are trying to squeeze every last drop out of it, e.g. by increasing the ticket price 25%...

- buy a 4lap ticket and get 10€ discount in the Lindner's Restaurants (Eifeldorf Gruene Hoelle)

- the hole Nuerburgring Park 2009 is highly unprofitable except the race track, specially the Nordschleife- it has to be kept strictly apart from the Hotel business of Mr. Lindner to keep the traditional constitution from 1927 (the Ring is for the local population) alive

if I am not mistaken it is a Porsche GT3. Funny how the driver is happy/proud he can keep up with a 400hp (completely stock) saloon with 4 people in it
