I've spent a lot of time maintaining the Black Full Merino Leather in my G80 over the last 39,595 miles, and the "oily" look you're describing is usually the result of using products with silicones or oils that sit on top of the leather rather than being absorbed. For high-end, semi-aniline leather like Merino, you want a "cleaner-first" approach to restore that factory matte finish.
Here is what I’ve found works best for a completely natural, non-greasy look:
• Colourlock Leather Protector/Shield: This is widely considered the gold standard for maintaining the "factory matte" look of BMW Merino leather. It provides a dry-touch finish and excellent UV protection without adding any artificial shine.
• Gyeon Leather Cleaner (Natural): As the name implies, this is specifically formulated to leave the leather looking and feeling exactly as it did when it left the showroom. It’s a mild cleaner that doesn't leave any residue behind.
• Sonax Leather Foam: This is a great "all-in-one" option if you want something simple. It gives a satin finish and is known for not clogging the perforations in ventilated seats—which I assume you might have if you spec'd the Front Ventilated Seats like I did.
• Leather Masters (Matte Version): Specifically recommended in the enthusiast community for retaining the original "matte dry look" without any artificial shine.
A few pro-tips for your application:
• Use a Horsehair Brush: Instead of just wiping, use a soft horsehair brush to gently agitate the cleaner. This lifts the body oils and dirt out of the grain, which is usually what causes that unwanted shine in the first place.
• Distilled Water: For regular weekly touch-ups, a microfiber dampened with just distilled water is often all you need to keep the oils from building up.
• Buffing is Key: No matter which product you use, always follow up with a final wipe using a clean, dry microfiber towel to ensure no excess product is left to dry on the surface.
If you want the absolute easiest path to a matte finish, Colourlock is hard to beat for that "dry" feel. Are you dealing with any specific dye transfer (like from jeans) or just general maintenance?

I've been using Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner and their leather conditioner. No complaints so far. The kit I bought came with a brush and I noticed the bristles have a habit of flattening.

For quick cleans I use Chemical Guys Leather Quick Detailer.

When I run out I'll try Leatherique.

I've heard good things about Leather Honey but its pretty pricy where I'm at.

I just picked up an X4 M40i which lived its life in Las Vegas. The leather was extremely dry and shiney, due to what I believe the excessive heat down there.

I just used Leatherique rejuvenator and prestine clean on the seats and door cards and it’s amazing the difference.

Plus, Kent at leatherique is extremely helpful with regards to questions and answers.

As far as how often to do this kinda depends on how much you drive the car and the your climate. I live in Minnesota. I will treat the leather in my X4 once a year, and once every other year in my M4.

Another thing to add, if you want sun protection for your leather interrior, you can tint your windows. Should block out some of the UV rays and also keep your interior cooler.

Doesn't have to be very dark, 70-80% tint can make a difference.

Another point to add is that you can/should tint the front windshield. My M4 has front windshield tinted, my X4 does not have the windshild tinited.

My front windshield is tinted 70% and its not noticeable. I had my driver and passenger tinted at 35% but got too many tickets so had to remove it. Loved having all my windows tinted and no issues driving at night as all.

I have tried the MEGUIARS Ultimate Leather Detailer and was really supprised with the results. Seats seems very clean and fresh after applying it on white leather seats

I have had really good results with Swisswax for napa interiors. They have a plethora of products, but take a look at their cleaner and milk.

Nextzett Cockpit Premium is my go-to on interiors, including a light cleaning on leather.

BTW, your 10-year old seats look great.

It's a subjective topic...a lot of good products listed in this thread. Others don't know what they don't know...everyone in the 80s thought Armor All was a game changer on leather.

My family is in the thoroughbred industry and we use Leather New ( https://www.amazon.com/s?k=leather+n...l-bn-left_2_11 ) on all of our leather items. It cleans and conditions at the same time. Spray it on, rub it in, let is sit for a few minutes, then buff. Leather is supple, and clean. No oily residue.

Griots Garage has a couple leather cleaner/conditioners I use and am happy with. One can be used on Sensafin, arm rests, leather, etc., the other is for the Merino and other leather only.

Tack & other leather goods are different from automotive leather that essentially has a painted top color coat these days. Many of these types of products don't get into the leather - you're only cleaning the exterior surface.
