Kit Update
Looks like NRW fuel filter kit is revised, improved a bit? Fuel line length shortened of unnecessary 'slack' in engine bay. Comparison pics - tdott install v today’s unboxing

It does look a bit shorter - good spot.
I think I had the updated one like you and it was still very tight to fit it in - there is a significant bending load on the the quick-connect couplings - no leaks for me so far though. |

How is yours holding up? I just installed my fuel filter kit and also noticed a bending load on the quick connects on both sides of the filter. This is concerning to me. Any issues with yours so far?

You should be able to spin the hose to unwind the tension.

Another "fix for a non existent problem". We've seen more secondary issues caused by these types of mods than we ever saw from dirty fuel and injector failures.

It isn’t a bad quality product at all but because of the fact that there is so little room where this needs to be installed, it doesn’t give it OE feel plus modifying the routing of factory flexible fuel line to the fuel rail exposes it to more radiant heat from the exhaust headers, personally made me uncomfortable with this solution!
Also, this would have to come off each time you need to change driver side spark plugs. Just adding more parts which were not in the original factory design increases complexity & thereby lower reliability, in my opinion! |

The main issue we see repeatedly with these type of kits are leaks. Installations we've seen have also resulted in hoses chaffing against other things because the original components weren't meant to interface with a bulky assembly here.
There are countless needless products on the market. Catch cans are another pet peeve of mine. Any product that adds complexity to an already functional system is a problem in my book. Too many "cash grab" vendors popping up on social media trying to make a quick buck under the guise of "helping the community". We're uniquely positioned to observe the fallout of such products...It's enough to make us salty. In the context of fuel filtration...In thousands of M3's through my shop I can count on one hand how many were injector failures that caused major damage. There is sufficient filtration in the system. With the exception of Diesels, hardly any BMW (or other Euro brands) in the last 20 years have had a separate fuel filter- that's many millions of cars produced. Injector failures in S65 cars were usually obscure failures that wouldn't have been resolved by better filtration. If you believe filtration is a problem and want additional protection, we recommend sourcing EV14 filter buckets for inside each injector. There's no money in that though....Guys with an expensive CNC machine have to crank out different and shiny products to keep their machines busy. Do the injectors need to be modified to fit the NV14? Or can they simply be pushed in at the top?

Just found this interesting post on another board with an S85 injector torn apart. It's fairly similar to the S65. From the looks of it, the filter screen does seem to deteriorate.

If deansbimmer doesn't like something, then neither do I!
![]() FWIW I asked my shop about these. Very reputable M-focused shop. They said something along the lines of "not needed. If you are paranoid, just replace the OEM filter and injectors every ~100k miles or so". They acknowledged that stuck injectors, specifically #6 I believe) can happen and cause seizing, but not worried about it enough to justify an aftermarket inline filter.

Sounds like Deansbimmer is salty the company in question stepped on their over priced vanos covers and is attacking said products with out first hand knowledge or pointing the finger directly at the product. Using generalizations and grouping them with “shady companies” to deter others from products as retribution. Sad because I hear that they do talk highly of you and your company.
