On the rpm raise. Just a 100 rpm at 8400->8500 (assuming torque is flat) gives another 5 hp. Not bad. 8500 seems like a nice even figure where BMW should have made the stock redline.
+1 This bugs the hell out of me, why didn't they just make it 8500 rpm? The 997 GT3 bugs me as well. I would get the chip just to have an even 8500 rpm, like a ferrari

Mess with your computer for maybe 5hp all the way up that high in the RPM range??? I wouldn't.

If there is ever a problem with the engine, the BMW techs will look at the engine data. When they see 8,500rpm, they start asking questions like "why didn't the rev limiter prevent this?" Then you might have an issue w/ warranty coverage.

That said, the car should be great. When is TK getting a supercharger for this beast?
