Shop around. I just had a set of 220M's powder coated in gloss black for $600 here in Philly area (also included tire mounting and balancing).
I used these guys: http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/locator and they did a great job. They've done several sets of wheels for my cars over the years.

I had mine done for $500 out the door in Cincinnati. The company is Killer Koatings, you can find them on-line. Ask for Mike, he's a good guy. That was breaking them down, chemically dip, sand blast, prime, powder coat, build back up (TPS and stuff), mount/balance, install torque, done. And they look awesome!
You are right about going with more rubber though. I have 275's on the back and 255's up front. I think I might be able to do a 285, but that is about it. The 275's are straight up flush with the outside of the wheel (zero stretch). I'd be a bit concerned about losing performance with a 285 as the width is wider than the wheel (i.e. opposite of stretch).

As for contrasting black bits, the previous owner of my M3 went nuts. CF kidneys, CF fender gills, CF mirror caps, CF tall rear spoiler, CF roundels on the wheels and steering wheel. Paired with the CF roof, it looks nice. ZCP look good but are heavy and (well-made) cast.
How about these bad boys in black? They're just under $2k a set. Have a set myself in the other color, very happy so far and I'm a fan boy. Running 265/35/18 and 285/35/18 on mine. 18x9.5 and 18x10.5, no spacers, no hub rings, uses stock length bolts. |

Get another price quote. I had my ZCP wheels powder coated for $400 and they came out looking great. The shop had recently opened and I suspect it was a promo price but still, $1000 seems awfully high.

I prefer gunmetal over black and the pics in post 12 illustrate why. You simply can't see any of the details with black wheels unless you are looking very closely. Gunmetal gives you the dark contrast you want without hiding the design. Too bad AG doesn't make their 359s in gunmetal, otherwise I'd already have a set. I'm debating between picking up a set of used OEM 359s and having them powdercoated or going with Forgestar F14s that come in the color I want and can support wider tires.
