Thanks for the reply! So that's just to prevent smashing the factory bump stomps on big bumps? Would I realistically ever encounter a situation where this would happen if these springs are as firm as people report them to be? I'd rather hit bumpstomp than smash the underside of my car if going to E36 bumpstops would allow that.

I just did some B&G springs and put in the e36 bumpstops as well as new boots. The old bumpstops had some decent wear on them so I’m glad I replaced them while I was in there.

There's no appreciable increased risk to your undercarriage. You absolutely should get the E36 bump stops, otherwise it will bottom out the strut towers and those impacts are very unpleasant and compromises the ride quality a lot. It will happen enough for you to notice, yes.

How does the ride with the H&R springs with the factory shocks/struts compare to OEM?

Wanting to do exactly this. Currently have OEM staggered ZCPs, but would like to move to square when the time comes for tires. So I might as well lower it, too, right?

It rides absolutely great. Just a little more aggressive/stiffer than stock. It's the first time I've found stock shocks to actually work with lowering springs. 99% of the time, this type of application results in a ruined ride and only a cosmetic improvement. Check out MRF'S detailed write up on this, he has given lots of feedback on ride quality as well.

You're just making me spend money now...

Last question and I'll leave you be. Obviously it's running fine and has been for some months now. Were there any issues/concerns with running the wider wheel up front with no spacer? Seems that it would be awfully close to the spring unless you were running a much smaller diameter aftermarket coilover. I'm planning on running either Continental Extreme Contact or Michelin PS4 275/30/19's when the time comes.

Nope, no issues. You can do the math on www.willtheyfit.com and see how it sits up front within 3mm on the outside (aka virtually identical) and not much more on the inside than a stock 19x9 without a spacer. Do it!

I’m running 275/30-19 squared on 19x10 et25 with b&g springs, no spacer in the front, and a 12mm in the back and I have no rubbing at all.

Have you had any rubbing? I have an E92 ZCP, and 265/35R19 Michelin PS4S on the 19x10 ZCP wheels destroyed my front fender liners. When I went to 19x10 ET20 Forgestar F14s, the additional 5mm offset made the rubbing even worse. Just last week I swapped out the fronts to 265/30R19 to stop the rubbing, since my rears are still 265/35R19. I eventually will go to 275/30, though.

Why did you choose to go with 265/35 up front? You are missing the benefits of square tires (can't rotate) and the benefits of OEM 20mm stagger (stability).

I have very minor rubbing on rear most part of fender liner but it's extremely minor. Stock ZCP suspension

I'm not really concerned with being able to rotate and didn't want the issues some have had with squared Tires without a proper "track oriented" alignment. This was solely based off reviewing options. I almost went to 285/35 rear but didn't want any rubbing at all. If a change in stagger effects stability, having a small amount will keep it happy compared to a square set up, ultimately a happy medium

I also don't track my car and have no plans to do so this was more a cosmetic, eye appeal mod. I wanted the biggest tire I could to enjoy a decent ride for what an M car is while having a flush look with minimal size spacer. I took all this into consideration when choosing the tires sizes. I realize I could have squeezed a 285 back there but I'd certainly have minor rubbing which I can't stand. The front rub is so rare and minor it's not a concern.

The 265/35 front looks out of place to me, but I can understand wanting to maintain sidewall height for comfort. If I end up going 19x10 square I will run a 275/30 front and 295/30 rear to maintain OEM sidewall and stagger.

I had 275/30 on my last set up and it was terrible in my opinion! I mean its not cadillac but I felt every bit of every uneven piece of pavement or reflector. Maybe it was just the tires, pzeros, but I weighed heavily on it, trust me, I just didn't want buyer remorse and be unhappy with the ride. And now, I don't feel I need to lower as bad, it fills it out nicely, in my opinion of course.

It is because of this that I am also considering moving to 18s. I feel absolutely everything with my 285/30/19 tire.

The 275/30 sidewall is .2" shorter than the stock 245/35. I wouldn't expect this to have much impact on ride quality, but I suppose it's possible when dealing with such a short sidewall to begin with.

I had zero change in ride quality, and as above, it's supported by the math that there should not be any remotely perceptible difference to absorption of bumps/unevenness in the road surface.

Then I'm going with theory that it was the tires themselves. Four different people who are either in passenger seat or driver have said the same, one being the wife who no very little car knowledge at all. Didn't tell them tire size was different and they noticed. In hindsight, another member with an IB E90 posted in the modified sedan thread his new apex wheels which look fantastic in 18s, thatd be a good alternative due to similar design of the 359s. Ever since having an E46, I've grown to prefer a meatier sidewall upfront so I'm happy with the results. Malek with the Melbourne e92 also ran this tire upfront but he was lowered, not sure I'd be able to lower it without interference but I'm undecided on doing so. Anyway, great sort of the forum is difference in opinion so people can see options that work
