The cost for the rental and all that tape would be the same to get touch up paint and get it detailed (IF) you got rock chips on your car.
Dude its just a car! Never loose sight of whats really important in life. Trust me cars aren't it. Oh congrats on your new car. She looks great.

Wow man, you need some
I mean don't get me wrong the car looks GREAT and I am pretty weird about scratches and nicks and what not, but $HIT, I live/drive in LA (bad roads) and have NEVER done anything that extreme. To each their own, congrats on the car.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like tape over a thin layer of dirt over black paint might cause some permanent damage to the clearcoat?

Congrats! Now I don't feel so bad about asking my CA not to put my M3 in the showroom since I can't pick it up for a couple of days after it arrives.

I can't believe you didn't get the car bubble option. If you had got it, your car would never have even smelled the outside air. Seriously though, congrats on the car, but people like you make me wonder what the F.

My next car will be protected by a an event horizon. The black hole is stored next to the Ipod. If anyone is interested just PM me and I'll hook you up with my boys at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories. You might think that this is counterintuitive but it works great.

OMG +1 on the OCD! My dealer actually does the clear bra and tint before I take delivery! My 335 was $600 for both and after 22,000, still looks good as new!
Do you have any pictures of the car without the tape?

Congrats on your new M, too bad you drove past the best dealer on the Eastern seaboard at Sun Motors, in Mechanicsburg, PA. In fact many State College residents drive to Sun Motors to purchase their cars because the State College dealer has a bad reputation. It would have saved you two hours of driving each direction. I picked up mine today at Sun Motors. I got a quart of oil, a nice BMW oil bottle holder, M floormats, paint protectant (whatever that is) and 3.95% financing at MSRP.
Can I ask why you went to State College to buy your car? Did you get your car below MSRP?

hardcore choice jet black + black interior + carbon trim. like it too bad we can't see it because of the tape.
People are really going crazy with clear bra and rock paint chip. I may or may not follow the trend I first think you are a bit nuts but actually for a $70K car and if indeed paint tape does not leave any residue then ok. I can't believe there will be no residue at all maybe 90% less but... |
