Can we use electrical tape on part of the shadow trim that meets the rubber door seal? That should mimic the clear vinyl that was mentioned in this thread.

Just wanted to echo the usefulness of this thread and bump it up for visibility in case any new E90 M3 owners are experiencing this issue.

I've had my car for a little under a year and the squeaking is relentless during warmer climates, so I took a couple hours to look into methods and products. Gummi Pflege works great (went through half the bottle as I don't think the strip of felt had ever been cleaned) and now I can enjoy the S65 symphony in peace. Thanks to all community members who contributed to this thread/topic!

man the time I wrote it was almost 3 yrs ago...
I remember the frustration, dealer applied some greasy spray all over my moldings, they said at one point will need to change the molding all around the car...
and as soon as I did this treatment once every 3~4 car wash, 0 noise from cabin for the past 3 yrs all winter + summer!

Just to make sure I get the right stuff - on Amazon: the Gummi Pflege is the nextzett 91480615 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz

and the Vinylex is the: Lexol 1215 16.9 Oz Lexol Vinylex Protectant.

And for those that used the clear 3M Squeak Reduction Tape - exactly which tape did you get? There are several.

Just wanting to make sure I use the right stuff on my 2018 M3 ZCP.
Thanks.

Here's the 3M tape I bought:

3M 0.625-5-9325 Transparent Squeak Reduction Tape -30 to 225 degrees F Performance Temperature, 0.005" Thick, 1 roll https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KCMSXAA?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I bought the .625" width and 5 yards for my E90. Have to do the same for my F80.

One thing I did at first was align the tape to the inside edge of the shadowline trim (where I thought the rubber seal would make contact). This didn't solve the problem so instead I used painters tape to make a line along where the felt flocking makes contact with the trim with the door closed. With the door open I applied the 3M tape aligned with the painters tape. Problem solved.
This goes against what the OP said but I'm convinced my squeaking was coming from the felt flocking and not the rubber.

Thank you jaehshim for posting this.

Did you clean the door seals before applying the Gummi Pflege? If so did you use the Vinylex to clean the rubber?
