We have red light camers as well as fix speed camera's and of coarse the hand held lasers. With our open licence we have 12 points, speeding on the spot ticket are issued 10klm, 15klm, 20klm etc over. Prices vary from $100 up to around $500. Point deductions range from 1 to 3 points and it takes between 18 to 36 months to get your points back. Our licence are for 5 year periods.

Once you get caught going over 25klm or more over the limited it can be a court apperance but most times the Officer will write back the speed so he does not have to go to court.

If your are a new driver and on a Probational licence and caught speeding you loose your licence, if your are caught with alcohol in your system you loose your licence and a big fine. Open licence holder are allowed the .05% rule for drink driving. We also have on the spot drug testing for drivers as well.

The only good thing is if your car is registered in a company name and you get a camera speeding fine they don't know who the driver is, so lets say if you drove 10klm over the speed limit and it was a 3 point fine plus a $100 and there is no nominated driver the company just pays a $500 fine and no points are lost because they don't know who was driving.

Sometimes in holiday season's they double the fines and if your caught doing more than 25klms over the limit its loose your licence plus a fine, but again the officer tends to write back the speed, all there interested in is revenue raising. So unless your a real idiot with speeding record you just pay the fine and loose a few points, idiots they want off the roads.

Speeds are 50kph back streets in Suburbs, main streets in Suburbs is 60kph. Hwy's 100kph, Freeways 110kph, all cameras are set to go off at around 10% over the limit, so you can drive safely at about 5kph over each of these limits.

PS. Probational drivers are not allowed V8"s, have restrictions how many young people are allowed in cars and curfews for late night driving. This is not in all States of Australia.

So you got the full rundown.
