You know I read that years ago and I understand....but....how many accidents have occurred from people with white illumination have happened? They added white to the gauges just not to the other areas of the car. Now...if I had the orange M3, I'd be VERY content with orange but I have a grey car and white would just look more aesthetically pleasing to the eye in todays car market. The new Mercedes 550 is all LCD or LED screens now and looks fantastic! I'll do a video once I get my E36 up and going on the illumination swap I did on that one. Matches the car just a little better. Those crazy German should know USA people are picky They I bring the pickiness to the extreme! Just never liked the orange. Maybe it's just me. Thanks for the info and watching!!!

Nice vid. I hate that you need to push the start/stop button twice to fully switch the car off. This is a BMW thing and not an M specific thing, but annoying nonetheless. Love the car though.

The double door handle pull required to open the door from inside.
The clutch pedal travel. The cost of performance mods. The effort required to take off the wheels due to inner wheel lip. Always seems to get stuck. Can't see radio display when wearing polarized sunglasses. Amount of buttons on all steering wheel stalks. Still don't know what most of them do even after reading the manual. Door unlock switch located in center of dash. Dirt that gets trapped in door sills. Door will be perfectly clean after a rain. Open door, see filth and water spots at bottom. Ingress, egress. I'm 6'3". Small glove box. Small console. No Bluetooth in 08 non Nav. Other than that, I love it!

I guess I got to get the damn seat belt butler to do its job first haha! Maybe it was just camera shy but I never realized it wasn't coming all the out until then because I never rely on that thing. But you're right, I'm lucky to have only those VERY minor issues especially at 130k miles. I'm very impressed the car is doing this fine. But really been thinking of a new M2 and my wife wants a Z4M. So decisions decisions. Don't know if I want to take on more unnecessary car payments. Thanks for watching!!

It only gets annoying to me if I forget to take my foot off the brake and hit the start button again. Gotta be able to turn on your accessories somehow I guess. I had wired a start button into another E36 I had. But I had a separate switch for acc on. But yeah it no way affects how I feel about my E92. Thanks for checking out the video and offering input!

It's not about knowing BMW's...it's just a matter of opinion. If you watched the rest of the video i explain that BMW has a rhyme and reason to everything they do. I haven't owned 6 of them for no reason, 4 being M3's. It just makes the car dash look old and bland. And if you read around you will read reviews about people complaining the interior probably could have been constructed better. The M4 is much more refined because of user input. I just can't handle the orange. Thanks for giving the video a shot....just remember just because Germans or engineers do something, doesn't make it the best solution. I'm a diffusion engineer myself so I understand the importance of safety. But in the end...it's a car not an airplane

It's fine! What I learned about being a blogger on YouTube is to accept the criticism because you're gonna get some. I've been on many forums and I know people can be harsh, it's ok. I let people have it too sometimes HAHA! And I know when I posted to a E92 M3 forum to be ready for the really die hards to come out....and that's OK! My die cast YouTube videos are much more professional. And I do listen to what people have to say. Trust me...it takes more than an internet post to upset me. I'm a pretty tough one to crack! Have and awesome day!!!

The whole view point about the DCT not being a automatic is complete BS. In reality its a automatic transmission, and it takes no skill to drive.
I had a DCT M3, and i loved it. But i am not going to sit here and tell someone i drive a "manual with a automatic feature". Comments like that are only going to be laughed at when talking to real car guys. |

Yeah just not my preface. I have perfect vision and have owned over 25 cars and travel with my job and driven, I don't know how many, newer rentals and have ZERO problems seeing other colors in the light or dark. As I mentioned in another post, it's a vehicle not an airplane, where lighting is more critical. I dont know anyone that has crashed and said it was because the gauge illumination. What I love about BMW cars, or German cars, is that they are well constructed and thought out better than most cars. That's only my opinion. I've heard many others disagree saying they are over engineered which causes too many problems. I love working on cars though so when a real problem arises I like to get in there and fix it myself. I personally would like to see BMW head to LCD gauge clusters that we can program and add in a temp gauge if we want

Hey Magnetic, to be frank this video is a tad tedious. Still fun with a new subject, we had a ton talking about the things we love so nice with a change.
However, nothing' gone change the love for our M3's... |

BMW is gonna market their cars however they want. I didn't ask for the features to be put there, they came on the car already. I don't think ANYONE asked for a seat belt butler. Obviously they have no intention on changing the orange illumination. The sunroof option is available in other countries but BMW adds and takes away different features for different countries. America always gets the crappy end of the stick. The transmission lunge is just dangerous anyway you see it. The door lock thing is just weird. There should be an alternate license plate holder for cars that need it like my 95 has. They took that feature away. I don't think anyone asked for BMW to take away the dipstick. So let me know where I bitched to changed BMW M3's to be crappy cars. Other than the bluetooth option, even on newer cars I bet there isn't an alternate license plate holder. I'll let you drill into a new M4. But I do thank you for checking out the video and your time you took to comment.

Oh I just wanted to comment on something on how you feel BMW has lost it's way because of people like me. I hear this all too often in the BMW world on how BMW has lost their way, like they built crappy cars these days. Everyone loved the E30 M3...I get it! To remind you that car is over 25 years old. Now unless you're against technology and improvement cars are going to change. From a business stand point of view car manufacturers need to be competitive. I guess, from what you're implying, is that you want all BMW's to be like the E30 M3. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to pay $80,000 for a car with old displays and no assisst nothing. No leather seats, analog dials, paper thing cloth interiors, old dashboards that crack, etc. It's either progress or be left behind. It's not the drivers and owners that have made BMW how it is today its competition. Put a new M3 against a 1990 M3 and put the same price tag on it.....which one would you buy? Exactly the E30 would be overpriced in everyway and not sell. So that's what you are saying is that you want cars to be old and not innovate. I disagree. Innovation needs to happen whether it's a car, TV, or a house. Would you pay $300,000 for a house with Formica countertops, vinyl flooring, and old appliances or pay $300,000 for granite countertops, wood or tile flooring, with top of the line consumer appliances? I think the answer is obvious. BMW is gonna do what it wants to do. People complained about the V8, BMW stuck back in turbo 6. Does that make you happy or will you jump on the "I hate turbos" bandwagon when BMW was one of the first companies to put turbos in cars? I'm not understanding what YOU want? If you want 25-30 year old technology there are those cars out there. Car companies either adapt and evolve or they go out of business. It's that easy. Your statement is just as bad as telling me that recording on analog tape is much better than digital music today. I was an audio engineer....tapes sound like crap! I don't want to hear tape hiss in my music. There's a reason why studios have gone out of business is because nobody uses that. They have adapted and moved on to bigger and better things for both cost savings, ease of use, and better quality....just like BMW has! I like the direction the company is going with their cars. But, because we are human, there will never be that one "perfect" car that pleases everyone. Even the BMW M2 is catching slack for taking the M mode button away and no EDC....so again, they took features away, not added them in due to user reviews from YouTube. And they are also complaining about the weight...8 inches shorter and only 25 lighter? Is that my fault? I couldn't tell you why it's heavier....maybe we should find those people that griped it was too light and it needed more weight so BMW made us happy by loading it down. I'm sorry but the days of 3000 lb cars are gone. And it's not because of me or any other reviewer, it;s because of safety features, designed by brilliant engineers to keep you and I safer when SHTF.

Generally when people say that, they aren't referring to anything you mentioned. They are referring to the size, weight and performance of the newer models, the cheaper materials used, the watered down of the models for the sake of marketing, how less driver focused their cars have become. Manuals are going away, xis are filling the lineup, BMWs are no longer the "Ultimate Driving Experience" they once were, very few models even come close now a days. They are trying to appeal to the mass market and in doing so they've 'lost their way' in what made them what they were years ago.
FYI Porsche still manages to make 3000lb cars and are more driver focused these days. I think we all understand a company needs to do what they have to, to stay in business, but that doesn't mean we have to like it, and it also means very few of their cars appeal to people who used to love the brand.

My biggest gripe is gas tank size, so small for how low the MPG's are. I dont mind getting bad MPG as much as I hate filling up so much due to how small the tank is.
