The mirrors close when I either press the lock for 1.5seconds or hold my hand over the comfort access lock button for the same duration. If you press the interior button, when you unlock the car it won't unfold automatically which is a bummer lol.

I bought my 275 PS4S from DT last week for $247/tire. It looks like the extreme contacts are $203 in that size, so the price difference is more like 44x4 or $176 for a set of four. DT had a $70 rebate on Michelin tires last week too...

Sounds like that is what I need to do. Get them at $247/tire and $70 rebate. Time to call America's Tire (our DT here)

I think DT has a $100 rebate going for President's Day right now for a set of four tires.

Derek,
Nice ride and great blog. I have the same E90 M3 color combination, Alpine White/Black interior and with the same 219M wheels as you. Have you picked up the 18/15 mm spacers already? Any chance you can throw them on your car. Would love to see how that looks with stock wheels. |

# BBS GT4 RE Installation Day
Today is GT4 install day! After finally caving and buying tires on Tuesday, it's time to install them! ## Goal for Today
## Coding The BBS GT4s use 8mm valve-stems instead of the factory BMW 11mm valve-stems. For those who wish to retain TPMS sensors, there is an option here: https://**************/BBS_wheel_TPM...4_p/bbsrdv.htm I personally didn't want to spend the extra money for this and second set of sensors. I figured the economical decision is to ditch the whole wheel sensors altogether and revert back to the Euro E9x/Pre-LCI E9x FTM system. FTM = It uses the speed sensors in each wheel and compares rotational speeds to check if there is a differential between wheels. This will determine if there is a flat if there is a large deviation. The con is if there is a decrease in tire pressure across ALL tires due to not checking, it will not detect that. (ie. All tires drop to 29psi instead of set 33psi) TPMS = This uses sensors in the wheels and connects to a main RDC unit in the passenger rear wheel well (at least for LCI E90 2010+). This system is more accurate but can get costly with extra sensors when multiple sets of rims or in my case, racing rims that were not designed for TPMS. During my research, I found a thread that describing exactly what I wanted to do! http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1145078 Thanks improvius for documenting this awesome finding! The first step is to take off the rear right wheel and undo the inner fender liner. After that, I unplugged the RDC module which is in the lowest rearmost area of the fender liner. Next up, coding! ### NCSExpert changes
Code:
CIC: RPA_CIC aktiv CIC: RDC nicht_aktiv CIC: RDC_SAFETY nicht_aktiv KOMBI: RDC_ALIVE nicht_aktiv KOMBI: MMI_ENA_RPA_RDC aktiv KOMBI: RDC_VERBAUT nicht_aktiv KOMBI: DSC_MIT_RPA_CC aktiv KOMBI: RDC_DISP_SWITCH nicht_aktiv MK60_M3: RPA aktiv ## Installation A small storm as passed through San Francisco and today had a slight 50% chance of rain mid-day. Luckily the driveway wasn't too bad. Off comes the 219M wheels! The PSS tires only have about 3k miles on them so they are looking sharp! My cousin's 328i E90 in the background just happens to be on GT4s too My brother's Msport 11 E90 335d, Cousin's 08 328i and my 11 E90 M3. Installed! After I reset and initialized the FTM, I drove around it now shows active instead of FTM malfunction! Few more pics: ## Impressions Final Specs:
The rear looks like it has room for a 20mm spacer instead of an 18mm. The front is perfect with the 15mm spacer. For now, I'll leave it as is. I didn't get to drive it more as I had some errands to take care of. Back into the garage, it goes! Initial impression of the square setup is that the steering is a bit looser but I will check more the next time I drive it. I'm now itching to lower it... YIKES. Thanks for reading!

Initial cure time is about one hour. A full cure is 24hours. I wanted about 2-3 hours (was waiting for tires to be mounted while I installed the studs)

Welcome derbo !!! very similar story here, started my BMW journey w/ a 2003 ZHP (fellow ZHP mafia member as well) and progressed to an e90!!! I love the e46 M3 so much though, that I decided to buy one as well! Don't mean to clutter your build thread w/ pics of my cars but just thought I'd share:

GT4 is one of my all-time favorites BBS. I'm lucky enough to find a nice set and it satisfies my need for an "OE" type rim. I really love these rims over the ZCP because they are 18s and cheaper for tires!

From my research, if I ever decide to go to Ohlins R&T or B16 Damptronics, the front will require an extra 5mm for clearance of the spring perches. That means I will most likely need a 20mm spacer up front (18x10+20). The rear should have room to clear a 25mm spacer (18x10+15 final spec). Wheelstuds are easier to get wheels on, better compatibility with different spacer sizes. That's why I did it!

Hey Derek!
Awesome car, I'm really excited to see what you bring to the table here. Plus, I especially like your fiance's choice in cars as well. Any girl who picks an M3 is okay in my book Mary Edit: Oops, just realized your girl's car is an M2... still qualifies lol Last edited by DreamTime; 03-08-2018 at 08:18 AM.. |
