Very true. Is much easier to sell all the mods and then sell the car stock. Might be a little more hassle, but you'll get your asking price in the end. Anyways GLWS!

Unfortunately a lot of the mods cannot be sold- clear bra, paint correction, coating, BPM and Dinan tunes which ran around $4,000. I'll have to revisit private party pricing as I thought it was more like 38-39k a la KBB. And then there is the rarity element but perhaps that has less impact. Appreciate all commentary.
Part of my pricing was based on another user on here sold his 2012 in identical spec with near identical mileage for $42,500 a few weeks ago. His included around 4k worth of mods- MPE, test pipes, and Evolve Tune. And it didn't even have the original oem zcp wheels. It took him a while to sell. I guess it helps if the buyer would plan to incorporate similar mods to a non modded purchase otherwise. |

I am possibly looking for another E92 M3 in the next couple months. If yours is still available I will check back to see if you have a more realistic price. Like others have said you will get a much faster sale if you sold the mods separate and dropped the price. It's actually more appealing to me if it was stock. I almost put Xpel on my G30 540i but I decided not because I don't like how it looks at the corners closeup. Although your car looks promising, in this car market I just cant justify spending that much on an E92 M3. P.S. Have you ever had your oil analyzed for the rod bearing issue?

I have not had the oil analysis completed. I was under the impression that 2010 and newer cars have a different bearing composition that won't show up as a red flag on an oil analysis. I'm happy to have it done at a buyer requests. I have used oem oil for all changes at 5k intervals and the car is always warmed up properly. Also, the stock x Pike and amp are available.

When I posted my car for sale, I had quite a few comments and DMs like above saying to part out the mods(even though the car was not heavily modified) and bring down the price to make it more realistic and while I somewhat agreed, I have also waited since I was completely OK by holding on to the car because I was financially stable without selling it and I also had an extra garage space to keep it until I found this one right buyer who flew from Northern Virginia to Nashville to purchase my car so what Im trying say is, it is up to you as the seller how badly you need to sell the car at this time I guess. It took me almost 6 months to find the right buyer for my M3 and he wanted as is for $43K(I paid $500 for his flight ticket here to Nashville so $42.5K) and as you know, yours and mine have pretty much the same spec and mileage. GLWS. You might want to appeal more to those potential buyers how religious you have taken your car both mechanically and cosmetically, if you have like I have for my M3, it really helped on mine to get sold.

Just to pile on --
I'd say timing works both ways, for the buyer and the seller. What I mean is while your solution may be to wait for the right buyer, many buyers just have to wait for the right seller -- and by right seller, I really mean right price. While you might have the impression that your car is rare, I think listings over the last few months have given you the wrong idea. I've been watching the E92 market for 7 years now, and space grey over red is not a rare combo. Maybe at the moment it is when it comes to the market, but overall, not really. Anyway, KBB/NADA is a good starting point, with mileage taken into account. If you want to make anything off your mods, again, you'll have to wait for the buyer who thinks your mods are the ~80% solution for what he/she wants. Otherwise, it's hard to say they truly add value. I know that's super frustrating, but it's true. Anyways, your car is lovely. I do wish you the best of luck. Mine was nearly stock but mileage was higher (60k) and paint had more imperfections...I sold it for 2k under NADA. |

I don't quite know what exactly was changed for the 2010 and newer cars, but what I do know is there was a law suit filed back in November 18 of 2015 because a dealership denied replacing the bearings on a 2011 M3. From my research online I don't think any year car for the S65 engine is absolutely safe from this potential issue. Some cars have racked up serious miles but have no issue, other cars are very low in mileage and have the issue. Although I must say in the interest of full disclosure that even BMW hasn't officially stated or admitted that it's a problem on their engines. But we all know that so many people can't be making this up. Anyhoo the oil analysis is cheap and quick so again if in a month or two when I am ready if this car is still available for sale, I will pay for the analysis if we agree on a price. But I don't think anyone should buy a E92 M3 without the analysis done. If not GLWS! Cheers!

@ Phoenix BMW Life: Newer factory bearings (2010.5 and later) are made from tin-aluminum, not lead-copper. Tin-aluminum bearings are 4-times harder on the surface than lead-copper bearings. This extra hardness shows signs of doing more damage to motors as there seems to be more bearing failures with 2010.5 and later vehicles. Tin-aluminum bearings also don't show the same signs of premature wear in Blackstone oil analysis due to lack of lead and copper.
That being said, I am happy to complete an oil analysis for an interested buyer as it's fairly inexpensive. I just don't fear a 30k mile s65 engine blowing up. Especially with 6 or so OEM oil changes on record, I think BMW NA would step up. That being said, I agree that there is a rod bearing issue on a small percentage of s65's, probably from the lottery of OEM bearing clearance and overly tight design. I will also mention that I spent all day yesterday looking at local private sale M cars. X5 M's, m5's and m3's. All were advertised as excellent condition. None of them met my definition of excellent, not even very good, despite being enthusiast owned. This car will not disappoint. I agree that Space Gray/ Fox Red is not rare. It's a popular combo for good reason. However, I've been watching for months and there is a shortage of these at the moment. It also took me 7 months with a 250 mile radius in 2015 to find this one. I'd get excited and then notice a sunroof, etc. that I didn't want. Interest has picked up and I have 3 interested folks! Thanks! |

E797762.
Fully loaded with every option except the extended leather which is too much red and the enhanced premium sound. Audio is upgraded with the Match PDP 82 amp dsp combo (plug and play) which sounds better than the enhanced audio. Tuned by musicarnw. Will send the autocheck report via email or text. 92 score. I also obtained the BMW service history from the dealer yesterday. This shows all work completed in the warranty period, including the break in service, etc. As expected, this history confirms that the car was extremely clean and well cared for.

I think a regular M3 without rod bearing service is a hard sell for over $40k. It's not like the car had really big changes past 2009 that can't be added on if the driver really wanted.

It's definitely a great car. KBB in excellent condition on your car is 38k. So at 40K you are not too far off with the mods you have, and it sounds like you have taken great care of it. Do you have a lien on it?
