Isn't it interesting that the efficiency issues of all aspects of energy production and transportation are almost never considered in these discussions. For all this gnashing of teeth over saving the earth we are more likely to be more effective just making small changes in our personal lives like recycling or insulation rather that blowing $65,000.00 on a EV. A good garden beats a EV everyday for energy conservation.

More than 60% of energy used for electricity generation is lost in conversion
https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=44436 My point is that the source of EV power is almost never part of the save the planet conversation. |

Yada yada yada, the article is trash, just as much as EV's are.
The tech just isn't there yet, and bio-fueled ICE cars make infinitely more sense. Political trash. |

Page 9. From memory it's 120 energy out, 163 energy in. (29 lost in generation, 13.x lost in transmission). Do correct me if I'm wrong, or if you can find more reliable figures. I do hate the "zero emissions" EV greenwashing!

I think it's fair. Federal government gives me $7500 every 3 years, I give $200/yr to the state to use the roads. Considering I was paying $.475/gal in taxes before, I'm still coming out way ahead

And who's renting? I bought and 2 years later my car is still worth more than I paid (not even counting the credit) I'll sell it and maybe go get another free car next year. If the money stops making sense, maybe I'll switch. For now though I will continue to stash that sweet government money |

And I have retained excellent value in several cars that I have resold in the recent past too. The fact that your car is worth more used than new is just a symptom of our fucked up economy. Careful .. buy an EV right before there is a battery breakthrough (we all know it will happen, but no one knows when) and your newly obsolete EV will be as desirable and valuable as a VCR.

I also believe EV owners are so bored with their purchases they have nothing else to do but talk about their plain vanilla, dime-a-dozen, "the vehicular equivalent of tract housing" cars. |

I know you're tongue-in-cheek, but, really, you're gonna bet your life that ICE is superior to EVs just cuz the latter's in its infancy (to the guy saying they've been around for 100 years lol), does he srsly believe that in the *practical* sense or more like he's just being pedantic? ICE tech has plateaued vs EV in its infancy and it's already losing, so never mind when the EV has been perfected. It's over.
