I'm available this weekend... I leave Monday morning for Baltimore. But I'm able to get together Saturday or Sunday of this weekend, as well as next weekend.

Right now it's a toss up between Performance and Leith. Do you guys just wait during the service or do you trust either place and drop off the car? Also, I know BMW loves their condition based servicing, but what should I be looking for them to do during the service? |

At Leith they usually give me a loaner if I schedule the service in advance. Most time ill wait in the lobby, or just WFH for the day. They'll probably replace your wipers and check the brakes. If your due for an oil change they'll do that also. Might check for any open software campaigns and upgrade your software if needed.
I've serviced both BMWs at Leith. At one time my M3 was serviced at Leith before it went to Charlotte. Lator |

Is it just me or are you guys getting respect from the local police also? I've been pulled over twice in this car, both times 12 over, and have gotten off without a ticket. The first time the police lady said, "Be careful, that's a fast car." The second time was July 4th, wet roads, had a little alcohol in the system, and the first comment from the policeman was, "nice car". He said if I didn't have any recent tickets from his check he would "try to keep it that way". That's never happened to me before.
I've got to say, I love the Cary police. They've always tried to be helpful, but this is a new lease on life getting pulled over for speeding and not getting a ticket.

I haven't been pulled over in the M3 yet.. but I'm sure it's coming. I have cruised past a few cops without an incident, so far. But who knows what'll happen.

Haven't been pulled yet in the M... It'll be interesting to see what happens when it does occur. I RARELY got any favors in my last car (Acura Integra), and I always got a ticket when I was pulled by Cary PD. Raleigh PD has given me a warning once or twice, and the NCHP and WCS have always been pretty hard on me. But now, I've been fairly lucky since getting my V1. Haven't been stopped in over three years now (knock on wood).
I'm not advocating speeding by any means, but the car just feels solid at 80-90-100mph, whereas in my old car, I'd feel my insides bouncing around if I took it past 90 ever. I've always thought the Germans got it right with the Autobahn, but people here just love to drive in the left lane. Drive right, pass on the left. It's not that hard... |

Hey guys, I'm planning a trip sometime in august to head over to Raleigh, NC to detail a Nissan GTR. Let me know if any of you would like to setup a detailing appointment for your car(s) while i'm up there!
Send me an email to dom@scheerdetailing.com Thanks! Dom |

So I just got 35% tint done to my car the other week, as well as just got a V1 the other day. First real radar detector I've ever had. I decided to get something since I've been seeing a shit ton of cops on 40 heading down to Wilmington. I head to the beach about every 2 weeks, so it seems to be a good buy.

There is a 'meet' down in Cary off Jones Franklin tonight. Import crowd from the local area, some fast cars sometimes. Evos, Subies, Nissans, some Hondas here and there. Something to do for a little bit if you have nothing going on.
I'm planning on washing the M and checking it out around 9 or so. If anyone wants to cruise M Style shoot me a PM and we can meet up. I live near-ish Triangle Town Mall/Capital/540 |

For one, you need to have the car track certified. It's basically an inspection by a qualified shop and a sticker. M Motorwerks on Industrial Woodwinds in Cary does that. He also uses a separate set of race wheels and tires and changes out the brake pads before he tracks. He said every four times to the track wears out a set of tires. The race tires hold and wear better than our stock. He buys used ones that are usually used once by the pros and discarded. You need to have the right sized wheels to go with the tires the pros use. He said my ADV.1 20's wouldn't do. He said the OEM brake pads are great for city and DD activity but they overheat on the track and wear too quickly. He said that M Motorwerks can switch out the pads before tracking.

Yes. I am at the track a lot, along with Doc (von_zoom). There is an event with Track Daze coming up at the end of August along with Tarheel BMW at the end of August. Both are at VIR and you can find the information on MotorsportReg.com. Enter your zip code and look for the August events at VIR. Go ahead and register.
As far as prep, go out completely stock and learn the car. Always a time to upgrade when you start learning and going faster. FWIW we are at the track 10-20 days a month |
